Menards plan gets first-round OK from county
SO no Lowe's but we can put Menards right next to Home Depot. Now that makes sense......wonder who they have behind them.

Sound Off: Roundabout lights
I detest them and they are just frustrating. What about the word "STOP" do people not understand. A huge waste of taxpayer money, oh wait, that is most of what they do with my hard earned dollars.

Project to build intergenerational retirement community in Lawrence moving ahead
Another great pie in the sky idea to make builders money. I hate to say most retirees do not want to be to close to younger families unless they are their own. Screaming kids, traveling groups of kids, bouncing basketballs, 16 year old drivers, been there done that. I like the idea of peace and quiet. THIS town NEEDS jobs with a decent wage.

Opinion: Lawrence unfriendly to new business? You bet!
You bet it is very true! FMC was an excellent place to work, paid very well and cared about it's employees. Now I see almost all of my neighbors commuting to make a decent wage. With the price of gas, given a chance to sell, that will dry up too. While not a Menard's fan, Lowe's still makes me angry!!! And of course the mall we could not have, but now have the elements of but spred out all over south Lawrence.

City planners recommending denial of proposed Menard's store; Planning Commission to debate project Monday
I am still ticked Lowe's was given such a hard time, great store we should have welcomed. I shop out of town, Lawrence is ruled by a few and it is not elected, it is good old boy money....
