Longtime employee Linda Lassen 1 of 2 laid off at Penn House on Friday
That reminds me of something like Kmart Distribution Center would do, not Penn house or Ballard Center. Disappointing, I understand that they probably had to do it to keep the places open and functioning to serve its purpose but only a days notice is insulting to someone that has been there that long

City to begin enforcing ordinance requiring sidewalks to be cleared of snow at 8 a.m. Thursday
Love it, considering the post office downtown has snow all over there sidewalk, looks like they made 0% effort to remove it.

Rottweiler attack leaves Lecompton Chihuahua with life-threatening injuries
The dog is still hanging in there, it is still being treated at Bradley Animal Hospital, I just called up there to find out. After lunch I am going to drop a donation off. Cant afford all that much but want to be able to help out some.

Building a gym: A Lawrence small business success story
Whats the deal with all the negative comments. Sounds like a win win to me, people getting in shape, a small business doing well and a person who fought through life issues to do something he loves to do.

Rottweiler attack leaves Lecompton Chihuahua with life-threatening injuries
have issue with the owner being irresponsible, not with the dogs, call animal control, dont try to cause harm to the little dogs, its not their fault they owner has neglicted to use common sense when it comes to owning dogs. Maybe by having animal control picking them up once a week and her having to pay fines will fix that problem.

Rottweiler attack leaves Lecompton Chihuahua with life-threatening injuries
Is there anything the public can do donation wise to help this family with the medical bills? I know that animal hospital isnt the cheapest one by any means. Dont want them to get lack of service for their chihuahua due to lack of funds, would be happy to donate some money toward the cause.
