Opinion: Running on first down best bet for KU

I can't believe Charlie and the staff haven't figured this out when a reporter has hours and hours to study tapes and tendencies to figure this out before any October games are played. Come on Charlie the LJ should be your scouting guide from now on. It doesn't matter who you're playing, the comparison in lines, etc. you should run the ball a lot more on first down regardless of the opponent.

Boot Camp opens; ‘nobody threw up’

Sounds like this group wants to win in the worst way. Go get 'em guys.

Paul Davis makes it official: He's running for governor

Brownback will run the state into the ground but it still won't be enough to wake up his own party enough to vote for Davis. Brownback is all about big business but little else about Kansas.

KU hoops schedule rated toughest

KU never said that. They have just said they won't be playing MU in near future. MU was the only to leave then go begging to still play KU. Colorado left because of geographic location, Nebraska left because MU was pushing to join the Big Ten and A&M is in the same boat as MU. They should have stayed in the Big XII. MU started this entire process by trying to persuade the Big Ten to take them several years ago. Had they done that, the Big XII would have been the same powerful Big XII.

Ex-KU coach Mark Mangino building happy, healthy life at alma mater

Glad you found something in football you can enjoy again and I hope it works out. You brought us an Orange Bowl trophy and followed it with the Insight Bowl. Hopefully Charlie can bring back some of those days. He's doing exactly what Mangino did. Bring back discipline and winning.

KU staying in soon-to-be-renewed Champions Classic

I'm sure they would have been next in line had one of the 4 opted out. It certainly wouldn't have been Louisville, UNC, or Indiana over Misery.

NCAA fines, reprimands KU coach Bill Self for damaging scorers table in NCAA Tourney

I've seen coaches throw their jackets in the stands, stomp right in front of the officials, etc. that is widely seen on TV yet probably don't get a fine or reprimand. This is no big deal and didn't even warrant a "T." Good for Bill, I wouldn't want a coach with absolutely no passion during a game like Fred Hoiberg.

Kansas House Speaker Merrick blasts regents, KU over funding, salary issues

They have to run for the position first and some good education folks don't like the political arena even the regent post brings. Remember, Kansas has been the butt of many late night TV jokes and some legislators who don't even do their own jobs well want the legislature to take over the regents.

Kansas House Speaker Merrick blasts regents, KU over funding, salary issues

He needs to run for the position first. Kansas has elected some real losers over the years and been the laughing stock of late night TV. We're finally getting back on track, but the legislature keeps wanting to do their jobs as well. Heck, most don't do their legislative job currently, why would they want to take on the regent's job as well?

Kansas House Speaker Merrick blasts regents, KU over funding, salary issues

Go out and research yourself how many universities and colleges have the same or similar position. I did and it's amazing what a couple of minutes can do to increase your knowledge. Nothing KU (or other Kansas regent universities) is doing sounds unreasonable to me on this aspect.
