Their disregard for animal life will be reflected in their disregard for human life.

Be appalled. Are you also advocating mercury amalgams?

Mexican national sentenced to 21 months in prison for illegally re-entering country after fatal DUI case

Let's not forget that we are citizens of one planet. Go to NM see the shanty town across the border. Look one direction from the highway (US side) and see million dollar homes, the other side (Juarez) will show third-world poverty. Is it so hard to imagine the suffering involved? If we are to truly become a global community, then borders cannot exist. Can you imagine? Many of you appear to be duped into your own hatred. Remember NAFTA?

Man flown to KU Hospital after jumping from car driving across Kansas River bridge

I get so depressed when I see the comments after articles about the misfortunes of other LOCAL citizens. I'm seriously beginning to give up on this town. There is little civility here.

Town Talk: Two hot dog stands to open in Downtown Lawrence; Chamber narrowing field in search for new president and CEO

Some of us prefer not to eat the flesh of dead animals. And yet, we have money to spend, and we like to eat out. I sure wish more businesses would open that cater to those who respect the lives of sentient beings and provide local, organic vegetarian and vegan foods.

City commissioners to act on proposed hotel/apartment development at 9th and New Hampshire

My husband supplies and services accounts all over Lawrence and Kansas. He told me that the hotels are largely empty, barring game weekends, in this town. So, is this really what Lawrence needs? How is it going to affect the financial solvency of the Eldridge, a Lawrence historical hotel with a history of financial instability (exorbitant rates may play into that)?

SRS launches adoption initiative

Confrontation,

Have YOU adopted a child? Before you go talking about "fairy tale" adoptions, take a look at the processes and see how easy it is to adopt domestically. It is not. Clearly, it's easier, and often less expensive, to adopt internationally. I know, because I have two children from China who are very real and dear to us.
