Journal-World staff changes announced with upcoming ownership change

I'm very sad that they chose to release their best. Mike and Richard are superb journalist-photographers and great ambassadors for Lawrence with their work.

Kansas Lt. Gov. Colyer visits refugee camps with GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson

Like all good political statements, this has an element of truth (truthiness), but a stronger element of "self-servingness", making people think that they have addressed the refugee crisis. Many to most would like to go home -- that would fit the governor's narrative. But that's not happening. The reality is that they cannot. *We need to stand up and say "BOTH". *

Letter: Stop and go

Another thing: At 4-way stops when one car is turning left and another is going straight on the opposite side, why do many (most?) drivers in Lawrence seem to think they need to negotiate who goes first? When I am the left-turning driver, I should go second, but while I am waiting for the opposite driver, I often look to see that he/she is motioning me to go first.

KU women advance to Sweet 16 with upset over third-seeded Delaware

Tom Keegan told me that they judge interest in newspaper stories by these online responses. Furthermore he denied that the LJW had any role in shaping interest. Hence, minor coverage for women's sports. No women sportswriters, and their high-school sports reporter was the only person sent to Arkansas. Last week, the announcement that Diamond Dixon was Athlete of the Year in track got mentioned only in "Briefly."

Kansas women knock off Nebraska in first round

Angel and Chelsea were both amazing. It was a great game. Thank goodness for a remote so I could check the men's game during commercials.

KU track earns national awards

This is pretty amazing -- Female Athlete of the Year! Could the LJW report on this?
