At 7:45 p.m. Barrett announced an approaching severe storm to festival attendees on a nearby stage. According to Tasha Riggins, Wakarusa Festival spokeswoman, electrical generators and other musical equipment was turned off in preparation for the severe storm. Many attendees immediately began leaving the park and other sought shelter in the campground areas at Clinton State Park.
