City to consider banning couches on porches

I think you are right. Also, indoor furniture is not made to be outdoors. The stuffing grows mold really fast from ambient moisture. You absolutely could look at this as a public health issue.

City to consider banning couches on porches

I imaging this is driven by complaints. It is trashy to see, and it is the type of thing that makes a neighborhood look bad and drives down property values. It's kind of a slippery slope. If people have big, junky stuff on the porch (and sometimes out in the yard), they are more comfortable leaving other junk around, then beer bottles and trash... Once stuff starts to pile up you get used to it being there, so a bit more doesn't seem like a big deal.

Brownback's budget director Anderson resigns

He really sat in a meeting with the Regents and praised Brownback for cutting their funding? Big kahunas on that one.

City balks at plan to allow motorists to use credit cards for new downtown parking garage

Like I said, I'm talking about the garage next to the Union. It is not gated, unless they installed one recently. I assume you are thinking of the garage next to the Allen Fieldhouse.

City balks at plan to allow motorists to use credit cards for new downtown parking garage

I doubt they thought it would be so high.
KU's parking system next to the Union isn't gated and works very well. Everyone uses a machine to get a time card for their space. There is no reason such a machine couldn't accept cash and credit cards. Has anyone thought to ask KU how they do it? Blasphemy, I know, but I know their parking garages turn a profit.

I want to second Boston_Corbett's suggestion to read the article that is linked in the story. Here is the direct link:

This woman and the out-of-state members of her "board" need to be investigated.

Knology changes its name to WOW!; lifts usage caps on Internet service

Wicked ownership is asking for half a million dollars from the city. Doesn't the owner already owe the city six figures? Sounds like exactly who I want to get my tax dollars.

Proposed policy would give KU faculty post-tenure reviews every seven years

It is a fact that there are poor-performing teaching faculty that are protected by their tenure. I remember a teacher who was quit literally in early dementia and should have been retired, but she was protected by her tenure. This was years ago. She is still teaching.

Amyx, Farmer, Riordan win election to Lawrence City Commission

She was the only one I noticed. Sorry. I'm not on here every day. I don't know why I found it odd; I just did.
