Owners of pre-eminent K-State bookstore buy The Jayhawk Bookstore

"The KU brand is more of a national brand with the basketball program," said Levin, who said college bookstores will need to rely more on apparel sales in the future as textbooks continue to migrate to digital formats.

I just priced out my books for this semester and it is still cheaper to rent the hardback/paperback books then to go with the digital formats. This is even true sometimes when you are buying books on your Nook or Kindles, the digital formats are sometimes more expensive than going out and buying a hard copy.

Town Talk: Minsky's to open in downtown Lawrence; renderings for 31st and Iowa apartments; East Lawrence coffee house up for approval

@Chad - do you have any renderings for the apartment complex being built at 6th & Stoneridge across from the Alvadora complex? Lots of buildings was curious to know what they'll look like.

Would you pay a $1 toll to drive the full length of the South Lawrence Trafficway?

I live at Alvadora and take K-10 to the Iowa Walmart and that area all the time because it's faster than going through the city, sometimes. I wouldn't pay a dollar to drive on it if that's as far as I'm going.

If I was going to travel the full length or enter at I-70 like Kshiker said, then maybe I would pay but they'd have to figure out a way to make it work because currently you pay the exit toll when you get off at 197 and if you don't continue on...what then ?

Borders store in downtown Lawrence to close by end of April as part of bankruptcy; 27 to lose jobs

I personally would rather have a Barnes and Noble in town than a Borders...just personal preference I guess. Wonder what will happen with the space!

Town Talk: Burger King headed to northwest Lawrence; library project adds potential twists; city to consider $200,000 for Freedom's Frontier exhibit

Interesting. Bauer Farms is becoming quite crowded very fast!!

Aren't they building a new apartment complex at the end of the same area, in front of Fox Trot Apartments (or whatever they are called) or are those buildings from something else?

Sidewalks in Lawrence must be cleared of snow by Thursday morning to avoid fines

Can anyone tell me if this applies to apartments or are the apartment complex landlords/company responsible for clearing the sidewalks? Last year, my apartment complex FAILED at clearing the sidewalks and I ended up spraining my wrist horribly on a sheet of ice - the whole side walk was literally a sheet of ice all the way up to my door step. I tried to get to the grass to walk in the snow and that's when I fell... just want to make sure it doesn't happen again and if they are responsible for clearing it or are under this ordinance, I'd like to complain if it doesn't get taken care of :)

House, antique store damaged in fire on U.S. Highway 40 near Shawnee County line

I passed the house on the way to work. It was completely in gulfed in flames. And there was a pickup truck sitting half way under the carport...people were just standing around like nothing was going on.

Lawrence library leaders moving forward with expansion design plans

If the Lawrence library ends up being anything like the Topeka Public Library, I'll be happy and I'd be more likely to go to the library. Topeka has a very nice looking and updated library!
