Brownback signs Kansas income tax cut bill into law
Rolling Stone has some of the best political writers in the business. Deep, careful analytic stories that go much further than most any other media source. If the tilt seems liberal, that's because reality isn't kind to the far right. Their only fault is that they write for people who can handle a long, in depth discussion. Not those who want 10 second sound bite buzz talk.

"Economists consider SNAP one of the most effective forms of economic stimulus. Moody’s Analytics estimates that in a weak economy, every dollar increase in SNAP benefits generates about $1.70 in economic activity. Similarly, CBO rated an increase in SNAP benefits as one of the two most cost-effective of all spending and tax options it examined for boosting growth and jobs in a weak economy. "

Brownback announces new press secretary: Lawrence resident Eileen Hawley
Why on earth does he need a press secretary? Everything he does is done in secret without input from knowledgeable stake holders or research into the consequences of 'bold' decisions. What is a press secretary going to be able to do other than issue edicts to a limited number of press outlets?

Theatre Lawrence grand opening this weekend
And the architects were? These things don't just pop out of the ground on their own yet there has always been a 'policy' at the LJWorld to never mention the architects who have often worked for a year or more to get a major construction project designed and built.

Letter: Looking at Kansas
Anyone who is not aware of the press Kansas gets in the national press is not paying attention. The Brownback 'experiment' is definitely being watched...and analyzed and ridiculed as extraordinarily bad policy. And its not just the 'liberal' press. The criticism is coming from all corners.

Revenue Secretary Jordan says income tax cuts are key to budget deadlock
yep. We may not be taxed, thus sharing the burden across the entire state population, but those with kids in school or college will be bankrupted by 'special fees' and up front costs that should be part of every school budget from state and federal sources.

Affordable Care Act bringing jobs to Lawrence
Note that these jobs are being created to deal with states, like Kansas, that failed to come up with their own exchange plan. We could have had a big chunk of our federal tax dollars brought back to Kansas for the benefit of Kansans. Brownback is again part of the cause of increased federal spending because he wanted to look like a good little GOPer and refuse to do what would work most efficiently and effectively for Kansas residents.

Letter: An angry rant
"In total, China owns about 8 percent of publicly held U.S. debt. Of all the holders of U.S. debt China is the third-largest, behind only the Social Security Trust Fund's holdings of nearly $3 trillion and the Federal Reserve's nearly $2 trillion holdings in Treasury investments, purchased as part of its quantitative easing program to boost the economy."
