Editorial: Friends in need

Let's do it. I'm ready to donate the $$ I would have spent on books and the $5 bag-of-books.
Someone start the book-less fundraiser and I'll send my check. While I wait, I'll be reading all of the many books I've purchased but haven't had a chance to read yet.
Thanks, LJW, for promoting this.

WHATA TOWN!
Lawrence has so many generous, active citizens who share their time, talents and money to better our community! In this instance, thank you to the Beach Foundation, Kathleen Morgan, Jonathan Earle and others who helped secure this new dimension to the Library's programming.

Hillcrest teacher honored with annual 'Bobs' Award'

Excellent Choice. Lawrence/Hillcrest is fortunate to have such a natural teacher. We have many super teachers in Lawrence.......Am so pleased to see Ryan McAdoo recognized for his unique teaching talents. Thank you to the Lawrence Schools Foundation and the Bobs who made this award possible.

Behind the Lens: ‘Chimping’ a photography faux pas

What a delightful article, Nick. Lots of memories of darkroom days in basement of Flint Hall.......who knows what critters lurked on the walls and floor....ahh, and the fumes of chemicals.
I now chimp a lot but, then again, my subjects aren't performing Allen Fieldhouse spectaculars.
Keep up the good work, Nick. Thanks for this fun read.

Do you think the state of Kansas should spend more money on mental health services?

Our hospital needs to reinvest in a mental health ward to reassure members of our community that emergency, short-term mental health care is always available.
