Letter: Fluoride evil?
Fluoride is also known to weaken bones even if it is supposed to prevent cavities. It occurs naturally in small amounts: Why add more? More is not always better.

Letter: Natural rights
The most important thing here is this (in my opinion): you can pave the wetlands and create a new wetlands but instinct will still drive the creatures who live there there, to that paved spot. This to me is tragic.

What to ask? Conferences offer face time with teachers
My feelings are the opposite of Shala's: I like to attend teacher conferences without my child. As a single mom, I get very little chance to speak to other grown-ups about her when she's not around and I feel I can be franker about how she's doing and what I want to know when I can speak one-on-one, face-to-face with her teacher about my child. Also, I feel the teaachers can be franker with me.

Five unique uses for zip-top bags
using bags as gloves to knead bread so your hands won't get "sticky" is just silly and wasteful. You have throw the bags away or "recycle" them. Kneading warm dough with you bare hands is one of the great pleasures of life.

Clean ants
Yay Jane!The chalk approach really works. Also, you know, ants are just being ants and it seems wrong somehow to kill an ant just for doing what it needs to do to survive.
