School board approves plan to close budget gap without closing schools

A few weeks ago the ljworld posted video of the meetings online. Anyway you can do that again? I just got home from work and would like to see it from the beginning.

Am I the only one who thought it was inappropriate for Mark Bradfort to say we need to "get our s***" together, and then compare the school disctrict to a church that is going under?

He rubs me the wrong way...

Really, that's great! I definitely had 28 third graders all day all by myself. If there are another 4-5 people that can come help me, send them on over! I'd love the help :-)

...then why'd you bother writing the LTE?

And the superintendant has already said that shortening the school week wouldn't be very cost effective.
The reason that smaller districts in western Kansas are seeing significant savings is because of the enormous amount of money they spend on transportation. Here in Lawrence we wouldn't see that, especially after cutting bussing within the 2.5 mile range.
Not saying I favor one way or another, this is just the information that has been presented. If you watch the video of the study session and the board meetings, a lot of these questions have already been answered.
