City to consider North Lawrence boardwalk development plans

The fire department already posts a fire truck on the parking area in North Lawrence because the bridge access is dangerous to emergency response time.

I'm for development BUT my concern is traffic over t he bridge.
Improve traffic on North 2nd or kill this project!

Brownback voices disapproval of Obama rule on contraceptives

Brownback... I have one question how about Christian companies that do not allow blood transfusions based on religon? Can those JW faith based Christian companies disallow all medical treatments to their employees for medical procedures involving the use of blood or blood products?

Slippery slope Sam?

City to appeal judge's ruling that part of sidewalk ordinance unconstitutional

I think Lawslady is right under the ordinance a police officer could arrest you if you were standing on the sidewalk and the officer walked around you.

Lawrence economy grew at exceptionally slow rate in 2010, according to recent analysis

2010 was a tough year in Lawrence. Construction "SUCKED!!!"""
Job growth......"SUCKED!!!"

I do believe property and sales taxes are high compared to the wage earning base in Douglas County but then We voted for those taxes and they are what they are!

JOBS we need JOBS that pay $50,000 to $80,000 per year.
about 1,000 of these jobs will do it!

Lawrence City Commission approves funding for SRS office

Well this is interesting. State taxes are collecteed for services distributed to all state citizens. The city of Lawrence is paying a "special tax" to provide the same services in a office located in Lawrence Kansas.

Brownback is having a epiphany!!! If through various State departments the Governor can target offices and services for closure then, the Kansas of State can force local governments to pickup the bill and fund the state without ever taking the issue to the state legislature! Only target areas with the money to respond to the threat!

Obama pay attention you too can reduce Federal spending using the same tactic!!!!

Honestly........ this is brilliant!!!!!

Gov. Brownback cancels meeting with Rep. Paul Davis to discuss Lawrence SRS office

Ok someone answer this question.

I'm assuming the SRS office makes rent payments on the current location of $400,000 per year?

The question is to whom?

Gov. Brownback cancels meeting with Rep. Paul Davis to discuss Lawrence SRS office

Lsense: The people I mentioned aren't stepping up because

1) Paul Davis (Democrat) agreed to lead (poison pill for the issue)

2) The Republican City Commisioners didn't ask for their help!!!

It's stupid to be hostile to Republicans with a super majority in all branchs of state government. You need their help on this issue. Get over it and do it! As for their help!
Let them lead the effort to get help and say thank you if they succeed!

Use your head! It is the first 6 month of Brownbacks term! He has a mandate! Do the smart thing!
