City Commission to consider giving Lawrence's city manager $10,000 raise
Why does Lawrence constantly compare it's self to places in Johnson County? Johnson County is one of the wealthiest areas in the state, and we are a "bedroom community".

Poll shows low approval rate for Brownback
I was thinking of how Republicans saying, ""That doesn't match up with the internal data we're seeing" reminds me of the recent Presidential election.

All Kansas counties except one declared disaster areas because of drought
The problem with insurance is the run around. They are not paying out because they are calling it a "flood" and not a hurricane. There are a lot of people who have spent a lot of money on insurance who are not getting the coverage they need. It would be like a tornado wiping out your house and the insurance refusing to cover it because it's "wind damage". And not just you, but everyone around you as well.

Illinois woman pleads no contest in child abuse case, agrees to testify in husband's case
I don't think she should ever get custody of her children back, and I hope they are in therapy, but I do think it is okay to let the mom and kids have contact. It's going to be an important part of their recovery to hear what she has to say.

But, I can drive to Jo Co in January and get my daughter a bathing suit for $20 at Dicks, when the cheapest starts at $60 at Francis all year.If I wanted to I could spend another $40 in OG, and have had a nice day out with the fam. Lawrence won't be able to compete until it realizes it's competing.

City seeks ideas for skate park
My kids are 9 and 10. They have a great time with their cheap skateboards, bikes, and even their remote control cars at the skate park. The teens I have seen there meet up after school, and before and after work. They are respectful of my kids and other little kids playing there. They watch out for each other, and seem to have a very low tolerance for anything that might give the park a bad name or have it closed down. They have earned the faith and trust of the people of this town. Upgrades are appropriate at this time and I plan to go to this meeting to voice my opinion.

City to consider stricter enforcement of rental ordinance
Sooo, does that mean that the city is going to hire more than just that one person to monitor all of the rental properties in Lawrence?

City to consider stricter enforcement of rental ordinance
Most of these properties are rented sight unseen. Because they're kids and they don't know any better. But, they are old enough to sign a contract, so the slum lords just love to have them sign on the line, "quickly, or someone else will get it before you".
