City to begin enforcing ordinance requiring sidewalks to be cleared of snow at 8 a.m. Thursday
This is exactly how I feel. What makes it even better is when the dog and owner leave 6 tracks that turn to ice making the job more difficult.

KU pulls out of deal for sports complex at NW corner of Sixth and SLT, proposes plans for larger complex on new site
Can we at least put a red roof on it now and not make it look so much like Wescoe?!

Western Civilization class may no longer be required at KU
Newsflash. Some specialized (read, not worthless) degrees are already exempt from Western Civ.

Grass fire briefly closes U.S. 56 west of Baldwin City
This guy has a criminal background, a recent foreclosure, and now starting fires due to negligence. What a nuisance to society.

Gifted student feels Left Behind
The real shame is that many of these gifted children are much smarter than their teachers. Think about that for a while. Being a teacher is not as "glamorous" as it once was and no longer attracts top talent. Why be a teacher when you can make many times the salary being a doctor, lawyer, pilot, etc? The values of our society are drastically demented.

Two more candidates enter City Commission race
Jake is super intelligent. If he sets his mind to this he is certainly a formidable candidate. I'm not positive where he stands on all of the relevant issues, but I do know that he cares greatly for the city of Lawrence. I will be interested to see how this develops.

Early morning wreck kills two Tonganoxie men
As mentioned above, sounds like the trucker is a victim here. If the eyewitness account is accurate the driver of the car was flirting with fate. It sounds like these two were well liked and will be missed. My thoughts are with those that were close to them.

Baldwin Junction to become four-way stop
This has been a long time coming. It will back up N/S traffic quite a bit at times but it is needed. If you thought a lot of cops patrolled 59 HWY now, wait until they start their sting for people running the lights.

Runner reports seeing mountain lion along river levee
Bleufer,
It was not in Lawrence area. South of O.P. many years ago.
Also, to an earlier poster that commented about deer not being here many years ago......We have whitetail from Misery to thank for our tick problem. Most people had never seen a tick 40-50 years ago.
