Brownback announces appointments to Kansas Board of Regents

“We need to get from good to excellent,” said Moran. She also said the state needs to focus more on technical colleges. “We need to be sure we have a workforce that is capable of using their hands as well as they minds.”

"they minds."

Brownback proposes phasing out state funding for Kansas Arts Commission

"If we want our world to be still, gray, and silent, then we should take the arts out of school, shut down the neighborhood theater, and barricade the museum doors. When we let the arts into the arena of learning, we run the risk that color and motion and music will enter our lives."

How much should a college athletics director be paid?

OK, let's do some editing...please? "$100,00 a year" and "Not as much as the are."

Now, to the question: Not more than the President of the US.

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2010?

I'm lucky to report that I have TWO great things:

1. I quit smoking after 19 years (pack a day)
2. I got a job after grad school

What is your favorite holiday song?

"Grandma Got Molested at the Airport," via Bob and Tom; or

"The Most Offensive Christmas Song Ever," via South Park. (might have one or two words wrong in this title...just too lazy to look it up right now)

Driver tells police she was texting before Tuesday accident that injured scooter driver, tied up rush hour traffic

You have to be a troll...but in case you aren't:

1. The left lane is the fast lane. For passing slower cars. Or moving over because of something on the shoulder. That is all. Traffic would move much more efficiently (since saving time seems to be a concern of yours) if people like you would stay out of the left lane unless you need to use it for what it was designed for.

2. The only thing a texter is attentive towards is the act of texting. All other things (like driving) become secondary. Period.

I really hope you aren't the cause of some future accident because of your imagined "need" to be hooked to that phone of yours 24/7.

Do you smoke?

Today is day 50 of no cigarettes, and I smoked a pack to pack-and-a-half a day for 19 years. I did it with lots of support, LOTS of willpower, and Chantix. Even with the pills this has been the most difficult time of my life, but I can tell you that it's been great to have my sense of smell and taste back, and I don't wheeze anymore, and I have more money and time. And, hopefully my body can heal enough that I won't die a terrible death from smoking-related disease...although I suppose I deserve it, on some level. Kudos to all others on here who have quit recently and not-so-recently!
