Gov. Brownback signs Kansas drug test law for aid recipients
How is the Department of Labor going to know if someone fails a pre-employment drug test? The applicant can simply fail to report they had an interview. Unless the employer reports directly to them that the applicant failed? And who is going to tell the prospective employer they are receiving benefits. I think someone should have thought through this entire process. Way too many pitfalls and way too much funding to be spent.

Lawrence-based Wicked Broadband announces plan to install super-fast 1 gigabit Internet service to Lawrence neighborhood
Same here. If you have a problem you are on hold forever listening to some Johnny Cash music. Didn't have service for a week and couldn't get a hold of a live person. Knology might have issues but at least you can reach someone if you need help!

Drug testing bill goes to governor
If the government was making money off the illegal drugs we wouldn't even be discussing this issue.

Drug testing bill goes to governor
"Peeing in a cup in exhange for free money is a small price to pay." My employer pays unemployment insurance. It is not my fault I am getting laid off. Not fired layed off due to lack of work. I have never done drugs in my life. I put in my time. I shouldn't have to pee in a cup to get unemployment benefits. This is just the state's way of getting out of paying people for benefits they deserve.
I agree there are people who take advantage of the system. But why screen innocent people? Come up with a better way.

Sound Off: Cold weather rule
Yes if there is a warm patch they can disconnect your service if the weather isn't forecasted to go below 35 degrees within the next 72 hours. Between Nov 1 and March 31 you would have to pay only 1/12th of the bill plus a reconnection fee to have your service restored. You would not have to pay the ENTIRE past due bill.
