Advocates for gay rights still face long road to marriage equality in Kansas

"
Advocates for gay rights still face long road to marriage equality in Kansas"

Lets see, you could say "Advocates for (blank) still face a long road in Kansas. You could put education, children, civil rights, women's rights, middle class, reducing poverty, voting rights, and on and on and on and on and on................................................

As long as we have the right wing "people are our enemy" making the calls this will worsen.

Teller's restaurant to change name and concept to Merchants Pub & Plate

What if they station a walk in cooler behind or below the taps and place the kegs right with the tap. The lines would be relatively short and could be changed out and replace regularly and resolve a lot of the stale line problems these kind of places often have. They claim the bar is not changing so I doubt this type of arrangement will be possible.

This is a well warn concept but maybe it will work. Tellers always tried to pretend they were a high end high star restaurant and they never were. Pachamama's makes a major effort to be what tellers always pretended to be. I would take 715 over tellers any day. A change, any change, should be an improvement. Interestingly enough, their is a family tree between pacha,715, and tellers.

Because they were the previous business. I think KU79 has a perfectly legitimate position. Now, the previous owners were famous for owing a lot of people money and most surely wouldn't have honored the certificate if they had a way out.

City agrees to expand rental inspection program to all areas of Lawrence

At least a percentage of of the arrangements as you describe most certainly do occur.

I have a friend who is basically a real good guy but he has a few older homes in the oread neighborhood and they are in need of some repair. He would agree with your comment because he tells the people up front what they are getting into and if they don't like it don't rent it. Likewise, when they complain about something he reminds them that they could move. His claim is that the rent is very cheap and if they want all the things resolved, just rent a more expensive apartment. In this guys case, he doesn't allow safety violations, just certain inconveniences and lack amenities but the rent is real cheap. A slum lord would rent these types of rental properties for a premium and should provide improvements and the amenities.

“We want to find bad landlords and get them to correct their behavior,” City Commissioner Bob Schumm said.

At a small profit to the city. I think this is kind of a kick in the shins to the "good landlords" but it may also serve to level the playing field some what. The good landlords pay the cost for the improvements required to maintain their property and the slum lords save that money and this allows them to lower their rent rates if they choose. The tenants will ultimately pay for this but hopefully it assures they will have a safe and healthy home. To bad they just don't have a law against being a slum lord.

Kansas Insurance Commissioner doesn't fit in GOP

For sure, but regardless, she will have to be able to match the dollars that the nonpolitical tax exempt conservative social welfare 501c4 pacts sink into the hate and lie filled character assassination and dehumanizing smear campaign they will run against her. To the "new republicans" the truth is a score card. If we repeat a lie more times than you defended it than it becomes the truth.

Kansas Insurance Commissioner doesn't fit in GOP

"I'd say she's out of touch," Schwab said. "I don't know when she quit listening to the people who sent her to office. But she quit listening."

I would say she hasn't changed at all. She reminds me of the type of candidates I supported before the republican party left me. I too, have not changed. It is sad, albeit comical, that the republican party's giant meteoric leap to the right and their endorsement of "big government" done their way is not acknowledged but rather blamed on the moderates who actually do listen to the people and do care about the people.

It is really just a matter of how much damage and how irreversible the damage is before the pendulum begins to swing back to the moderate and reasonable people Like Sandy Praeger.

Thank you for your years of service and resisting "selling out" to the Alec and the Kochs of the world. No doubt, they would have sunk millions into a smear campaigning through their non political 501c4 social welfare pacts. No one deserves the wrath of the modern day "McCarthyism" that the republican party has become .
