Annual lighting ceremony, Santa rescue set for Friday
NO KIDDING...every year, for how many decades? I don't think area tax payers should have to cover this; L-DCF&R is hopefully sending bills to the north pole!! Is santa getting a little senile in his old, old, old, old, old age??

Whooping cough suspected in employee at Lawrence dialysis clinic
Davita is sending someone from the KC regional office to speak with me tomorrow. I felt it only fair to update my earlier post with this latest 'development'.

Whooping cough suspected in employee at Lawrence dialysis clinic
That wasn't exactly the story this morning; if patients wanted antibiotics or a booster they could get it AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. I'm not sure about this "we're treating everybody anyway..." stuff; this morning it was OPTIONAL, no one was being told they should or should not, but if they wanted to (and could pay) the orders would be provided.
I made a tip to this paper about that and just hours later got a call saying DaVita would reimburse for any out of pocket expenses for antibiotics or boosters.
Interesting how the light of the media can change things. Thanks LJW!!

Wetlands advocates look for new ways to stop construction of South Lawrence Trafficway as legal battle ends
It's time to end the bickering, whining and complaining!
Get out and worship your artificial, man-made wetlands while you still have time (about a year apparently.)

City condemns 24-unit apartment building on West 26th Street, issues eviction notices
Yes the owner is to blame, but so is Jayhawk "PROPERTY MANAGEMENT" the whole reason you share a part of the rent that comes in is so you don't have to deal with maintenence & repair issues
I'd much rather see people forced to move, that forced to live like the story alleges. Douglas County Red Cross, sounds like you've got some folks in need of help!
I'd also say these folks are due a refund of rent, but if that even occured it would at least take months and possibly years.
Horrible situation.

Jenkins says Schlingensiepen should apologize to her for comment
This may shock some....
This man owes Mz. Jenkins NO appology...there is no place more currupt than Washington D.C. (I believe it only gets worse the further you move up the political ladder; beit City Commission, School Board, county level, state..etc..) ULTIMATELY Democrats and Republicans have more in common than differences.
I'll vote for Romeny (not completely satisfied with that choice) but whoever does get elected, The Who said it best..."meet the new boss, same as the old boss"

Funding problem could eliminate Amtrak's Southwest Chief from 3 Kansas cities
Just to CLARIFY...I was refering to the route that might be abandon (vs. SLT when it opens)...not the entire Amtrak system on any given day.
