Sweeping abortion bill approved by Kansas House committee

Every child should be a wanted child. 18% of children in Kansas live in poverty. I'm sure that number will increase at a staggering rate if this bill goes into effect.

No method of birth control is 100%, except celibacy. Which isn't realistic for the majority of the human race. It really doesn't matter HOW a woman gets pregnant. Stupidity, recklessness, rape, incest. It's all the same if it's an unwanted child.

Where the hell is the TRUST in a woman to decide for herself what is right for her? If someone doesn't want a child - for whatever reason - why should she be FORCED to? Some people just shouldn't be parents, and sometimes having an abortion IS the most responsible choice a woman can make.

The chances of an child to thrive in love, health, and emotional stability that is born to a situation in which they are unwanted faces insurmountable odds. And the state of Kansas isn't going to be there to help, either.

Being forced to have a child that you do not want is punishment - not just for the woman, but the innocent child, and society.

Shameful.

Battle forming over Brownback's plan to scrap earned income tax credit

Brownback has no compassion for the needs of others. $60 a week can buy a family groceries, pay a utility bill or buy new clothes. Oh, that's right, single parent families don't deserve healthy food, a warm home, or new clothes. Because they are lower class citizens in the eyes of Brownback.

Can we impeach this idiot and elect someone who is in touch with reality and the needs of the people in Kansas as opposed to the Koch Brothers?

Owner of recycling business wants green light from city

It's appalling that recycling services are not more readily available. Having a more extensive recycling service available to residents of Lawrence has so many benefits. Coming from a west coast state where recycling was mandatory, I've seen how vital it is to reducing trash in landfills and I imagine it will create jobs.

What's the problem in having city-wide recycling more available? Really?

Are you shopping pre-Black Friday sales?

No way. If Black Friday really were on Friday, maybe, but it's horrid that we can't even enjoy Thanksgiving for the day it is - being thankful for what we HAVE. Not running off to buy more. And how sucky to be a retail worker that has to start work at 10pm for an overnight shift of crazy bargain shoppers?

No thanks.

Brownback hires $150,000 information technology chief from Florida, but questions arise about qualifications

Seriously?

This is absolutely disgusting. My 14 year old has more tech knowledge and actually attends a 'real' school.

County judge considering release of child molester

Are you kidding me? Sex offenders who prey on children are the worst offenders of them all, and the least likely to rehabilitate.

Using a gun to commit rape on children? I wonder what the judge would want if it had been his own children this man had assaulted.

Fix-It Chick: Discourage brown recluse spiders from residing inside

I think it should also be noted that not all spiders are Brown Recluses, and not all spiders are bad. I don't want an infestation in my home, but a non-poisonous house spider or two in the house are not a reason to freak out.

Skaters on board with park upgrade

I had many friend who were skaters growing up, and skate parks were very rare in those days. So, they just found other places to skate - usually old abandoned lots, swimming pools, dry culverts, stairs of local businesses, whatever they could find.

As a mother of a teenage skateboarder, I am glad to see skate parks becoming more available. I'm happy to know that he is skating somewhere safe, and not potentially trespassing to find a good place to skate.

It's money well spent. Not offering kids places to go or things to do often leads to trouble.

Kansas ordered to resume funding Planned Parenthood

.... And that's just what Brownback wanted. Can we recall him yet?
