Sound Off: School security
Gun control worked in australia.
http://abcnews.go.com/International/a...
One highlight - "In the last 16 years, the risk of dying by gunshot in Australia has fallen by more than 50 percent."
If mental health is the issue I assume you are for more rigorous background checks that include a mental health screening?

Lawrence gun sales climb after Connecticut school shooting
On the same day as the Newtown shooting a whack job in China attacked a school. He injured many but no one was killed. The difference? He did not have a gun.

We can both site specific incidents to prove our points but the gun control advocates have the overall numbers on their side. More guns make us less safe.

Our children are much less safe if we have a gun in the house.

And gun control can and has worked.

I have no idea what your point is. You apparently think obamacare is bad but then you spend the rest of the post explaining why so many people desperately need it.
And obamacare was not forced on us. Prior to the 2008 election obama told us he was going to try to implement a national health plan. He then won in a landslide. You might not like it but you cannot say it was forced on the country.

The numbers say you are wrong.

I'll share one highlight.

It is so sad that people think this way. What a sad commentary on our society.
More guns are not the answer, they are the problem. More guns mean more deaths by gun.

A nuclear bomb can't hurt anyone unless someone detonates it. Are you saying we should care less who gets one?
Your argument is ridiculous.

Letter: Gun access
The difference is guns laws have been significantly weakened in this country over the last 15 years. The reverse has happened with drinking and driving laws. It is time to reverse the direction of the gun laws too.
And again, your argument doesn't make sense to begin with. We should ignore a problem because there is a worse problem we haven't solved yet. I guess that means we should stop doing Alzheimer's research until heart disease and cancer are cured, right?

Letter: Gun access
But we do try to control the damage from drinking. That is why it is against the law to drink and drive. Over the years we have made the penalties more and more harsh and increased awareness through public relations campaigns. This has resulted in steadily declining dwi deaths for over 20 years now.
Your argument makes no sense any way. Because problem a isn't fixed we should ignore problem b.
And by the way, a lot of those drunks use guns to kill.

Letter: Illogical theory
According to the CBO, the three greatest contributors to the debt under Obama have been the Bush tax cuts, the unnecessary war in iraq and the war in Afghanistan, which is still a mess largely because we diverting all the resources to iraq. Obama has not gone on a spending binge. He is still cleaning up after Bush.

Republicans make fools of themselves. They turn on fox news to hear how smart they are. Republicans go out and make even greater fools of themselves. Lather, rinse and repeat.
