Thieves break windows, steal from 3 Lawrence school district vans during student club trip to St. Louis

My son, a board member with the LHS group, had his MacBook stolen, as well as Algebra, French 2, Psychology, US Government textbooks, notebooks with homework to be turned in, and his choir folder. Sad that Senior yr has this event etched into it. Sad that there are " poopy" people who do things like this. You scumbags think you got away with it, right? Well, karma is a female canine. JERKS!!!
Now for the giving of thanks. Enterprise rental provided vans for the group and sponsors to get back to Lawrence. The restaurant where they had lunch let them stay until all police reports were finished. Profound thanks to the staff sponsors who provided emotional support.

Trump creates path for Kansas, other states to require Medicaid recipients to have a job

Dear God. Every day since this baboon took office, T there are new reasons to be afraid.
There is a segment of Medicaid recipients who cannot hold down a job( let alone one that would provide health insurance), and are fighting battles with Social Security to be approved for benefits. It takes about three years to get to the hearing in Topeka. In the meantime, what are so many people supposed to do? What about those who work, but do not have insurance?
We're screwed, that's what.
I am terrified. I'm a lung cancer survivor, as well as numerous other medical issues. I have six doctors. 18 meds. When my youngest turns 19 one year from now, bye- bye health insurance.
I'm just shaking my head in disbelief at how many people have drunk the GOP kool-aid. I have some friends who think Lord Cheeto is the Second Coming, for pete's sake. Wake up, people!!!

Students who violated LHS policies in derogatory messages will be 'held accountable' — how, exactly, remains unclear

Freedom of speech must be balanced with prudence. There are consequences to what we say. Those students whose texts violated school policy well, they should be given the "gift" of a chance to learn cause and effect.
To those students who have been shoved, kicked, and are called names, I am so sorry. No student should have to be afraid to use the bathroom, walk the halls, or not feel safe at school.
Sincere congrats to ALL of you who had the strength to stand up for others, yourselves, and for what you believe.

Discriminatory text messages spur student sit-in over LGBT rights at Lawrence High

My thoughts exactly. Mr. Holyroyd, the protest disbanded at 1500. School lets out at 1510. I applaud each and every student who took part in the protest/sit-in.
Also, many of the students there are honor students and rather bright. In fact, I postulate that each and every one of them is- for having the courage to stand up for what they believe!

Discriminatory text messages spur student sit-in over LGBT rights at Lawrence High

If a kid skipped class to sit-in, and were I the parent of one of them, I would respectfully call the school and say " Mark them unexcused absence if you must, but I as their parent not only excuse but am crying tears of pride"

LHS transgender students face backlash after protest, say 'this isn't the end' for their advocacy

Excuse me? Are you really saying these kids who were brave enough to stand up and demand change are " hurting society"? NO! Are you familiar with how sit-ins and protests have been used to effect needed change?
There need be no confusion. How about we just accept others as they are and let it be!

Kansas House panel tables Medicaid expansion bill over objections of hospital supporters

Shirt heads!!! Morons like these are the reason I became a Democrat!!! Why, of course you have better things to worry about than the health and well-being of the citizens of Ks. Ppppfffftttt!

Trump's win brings disappointment and hope for area voters

We are now the laughing stock and joke of the entire world! I went Democrat in 2012, when I finally opened my eyes to the hypocrisy that is the GOP.
I am terrified for myself, my children, and my granddaughter in a Trump led country. I fear for the hate towards LGBT persons, those Muslims who are NOT terrorists, persons of color, etc.
I am terrified this yellow-haired butthole will repeal the ACA. That means that in less than two years, when my youngest goes off to college, I am screwed!!! Due to the fact that Brownback spit 31 mil back in Obama's face, and refused to expand Medicaid in Ks, I will go down the drain. I will be a lung cancer survivor, on 18 different meds, with no insurance. Thank you to each and every idiot who voted for this pig. NOT!

Kansas cancels 5 public meetings on Medicaid issues

Mr.Peterson, you hit the nail on the head. They don't want to face us. As a KanCare client, and the mother of a son with intensive special needs, I want to know precisely what providers will get hit with the reduced payments. As a lung cancer survivor, at only 52 I have meds that out of pocket would cost about a grand a month. Needing surgery to remove another "blob". I want to know if my providers will be affected. Every single KanCare client has the right to know!
To all those who are not clients but still care-thank you!!! To Mr. Brownback, you are a stonehearted bastard, and the reason I became a Democrat!!!
