Jenkins meets with diverse groups during recess tour of her district

How do I get off her 'junk call' list? It's infuriating!!!! Didn't vote for her - won't vote for her and I definitely don't want to hear her whiny, nasally voice on my phone during the dinner hour!!

Former KU student sentenced to 30 days in jail, barred from social media, for attacking female student

So.... he gets to avoid having to register as a sexual offender? That's just wrong. His crime was sexual assault - it's naive to believe that he'll never do it again. His 'apology' was more of a lament of the things he lost, barely mentioning his victim at all. He just didn't get what he did was wrong. His 'woe is me' was insensitive and out of touch with any feeling of accountability on his part.

Why are graduations in the middle of the week?

What's with the mentality of scheduling AROUND the university's schedules? Are not our local high school graduates at least as important as the graduations of the college students? It gets so freaking old to have so many things dependent on what the university does! I understand that there are many local families that have relatives attending KU - but there are many more of us who do not have children there and the mid-week graduation's meant that family members had to take time off from their work and in some instances more than a day off to attend - often choosing between attending the ceremony or attending the grad party over the weekend.

As to the beautiful evening - it was gorgeous, but that was coincidental, not scheduled. It just as easily could have been raining, hailing or blistering hot just like any other May evening.

Lawrence, Kansas is more than the University of Kansas. It is an integral part of our culture and we reap many benefits from it socially, culturally and economically - but it is within the environs of the city - not the other way around and I for one would like that considered more frequently when major decisions are made. I think it would be foolish to schedule any graduation during the same time as KU's, but the need for a Tuesday or Wednesday evening just didn't exist. I love the Friday evening idea - if a Saturday just isn't possible.

Knology changes its name to WOW!; lifts usage caps on Internet service

I was happier to hear this a.m. on TV the CEO actually ACKNOWLEDGE the speed issues associated with their service and his promise that its being fixed. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed. I'll probably always miss the old 'Sunflower' - I didn't know how good we had it (even as imperfect as that was). Keep your promise, keep your customers - still rooting for Google Fiber to come to Douglas County, though!!!

No health premium hike for county employees

How does the $3,600.00 family out of pocket compare with other entities? As to the $35.00 co-pay, that's misleading. That's $35.00 per prescription with some higher and some lower. How about the hassle of a constantly changing formulary that covers a prescribed medication one quarter and not the next? YES I AM GRATEFUL for our health & dental insurance, but it's not as 'plushy' as the article makes it sound....
