Clemson University hires KU professor to lead biology department
You're the second person who's brought up that point — thank you — and I'm looking into it. I'll post an update when I find out.
Thanks,
Matt

New building for KU engineering students to be named for donors
I don't have details about the building right at the moment, but watch for our KU Today edition over the summer. We're planning for a story on the building project.
Thanks,

Dole Institute's summer events include Battle of Gettysburg panel, Dole birthday celebration
I'm not sure when that will be exactly — Bill Lacy said they're still working out who all the panelists will be. The quickest way to know will be to keep an eye on the Dole Institute website or perhaps sign up for its email list.
Thanks,

KU links: Professor sticks up for Neanderthals in NYT; blogging Topeka high-schooler picks Yale over KU
Did you try clicking the link? In my experience, the NYT lets down its paywall for external links like this, so as not to shut off readers who might wander in from other parts of the Internet. It works for me, at least. But let me know if I'm wrong, and perhaps I won't share NYT links as much.
Thanks,
Matt

KU links: Professor sticks up for Neanderthals in NYT; blogging Topeka high-schooler picks Yale over KU
If I understand his blog posts correctly, I don't think he included KU in that experiment. I should have made that clearer in this post, sorry. He says he just sent the emails to faculty at Yale and Amherst, the two final schools he was considering. I think KU had been ruled out by that point (based on his posts, anyway).
Thanks,
Matt

Haskell's president, Chris Redman, leaving for job in Oklahoma
I'll chime in for a second: My understanding of that 26 percent figure is that's how many students were earning an associate's degree OR a bachelor's degree.
Thanks,

Funny Facebook users stay away from politics, KU researchers find
Pennington did note one exception to the Facebook politics/humor rule: people who post jokes from political comedians — Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, etc. But even in those cases, if a joke is on one side of the political spectrum or the other, certain other people might not find it very funny, for obvious reasons. Thanks for reading.

University Senate pushes for more tuition assistance benefits for faculty, staff and their families
That's a point that was raised during yesterday's meeting — the accounting of "costs" for such assistance could be tricky. That's something I'll ask about when I look into this issue in more detail, which I hope to do soon.
Thanks,
Matt
