Duo has plan to convert Teller's into gastropub with heavy emphasis on craft beers; Papa Murphy's opens with special event for Boys and Girls Club today
The term gastropub, a portmanteau of gastronomy and pub, originated in the United Kingdom in the late 20th century. I like them if they are done well. I like Free State but Schlafly in St Louis is even better imho.

Chutney's Indian restaurant set to open on Monday; burrito madness in downtown Lawrence
OK yeah there was New York Burrito and Chipotle for a while, Q'Doba and Chipotle for a while and now this but I think Freebirds stands a better chance, they have a lot of different options even though most people here seem to have written it off. Different size and style of tortilla, options other than just burritos, etc. Their branding is stupid but I stopped holding that against places once Fuzzy's opened.

Lawrence veggie burger company to move into new production plant near 23rd and Haskell
Sad that the classiest and best smelling business at 19th and Haskell is no more, if you would've been able to buy veggie burgers retail next to a liquor store that would have been the ultimate Lawrence strip mall.

Rumor mill running wild about possible changes at Lawrence Athletic Club
Seriously, it's not funny, I'm not offended, just not laughing at them, ever. I come here to read about new businesses in town, don't need the "take my wife, please" humor.

Town Talk: Esquina to close in downtown Lawrence, St. Louis-style Italian restaurant to take its place; City Hall to pay company's moving expenses; tougher tow regulations on tap for Lawrence
The cashier at Esquina one time I went there was the most out of it of any food service worker I've ever seen anywhere. I liked the food ok but the help was seriously on something.

First lady says Obama ‘a man we can trust’
Michelle must have done a great job if the same handful of conservatives feel the need to keep making childish comments like this.
