Drug testing for welfare benefits one of many bills worked on as Legislature nears deadline

I have personally witnessed several Kansas farmers, purchase and consume illicit narcotics with money that they had received for Conservation Subsidies, and Commodity Subsidies.

They could take that money that the government pays them FOR not working, and buy drugs which could get them too high to work.

Almost 70% of Kansas farmers are getting that free government bucks. DRUG TEST THEM.

Double Take: When teachers bully

Yep, strengthen the kid enough that no trace of prey remains. Instead of wasting far more on our rarely successful restrictive approach, build them up as much as possible. Then attacks ill be far fewer, or not at all. And while we are at it, subject the bully to every effort aimed at instilling some self esteem. They either will actually become nicer, perhaps gain the ability to empathize, or at least they will be totally embarrassed enough to stop being out in public, a known bully and the butt of many jokes.

A child given the ability to accept themselves is not subjected to bullying. Any child showing talent or a sincere dedication to almost anything, is very rarely within reach of a bully. Bullies go for the easy pickings. Any decision to attack a strong person is very risky. The intended victim might win, or simply laugh them off. A bully who is publicly laughed off, is immediately in shambles. He or she, becomes easy pickings for there previous followers.

Bullies intuitively know that if they try to bring a secure kid down, he will quickly discover that he lacks the knowledge necessary to even make any likely approach. Also, with self esteem comes admiration of others. A self assured child, will quickly draw friends, and become a mass of kids who are far beyond the reach of any bully.

Any effort to attack secure people puts a bully in a strange environment. He/she quickly realize they lack the knowledge needed to bully anyone. Schools should use and teach dealing with negative attacks, using only positive tools. Positives are so very much more powerful. Bullies fall at the very thought of attacking a positive thinking child. Especially if the child is always well armed.

And if teaching a child to be self assured fails. Spread a rumor that the kid went to Sniper School. Or spread the same gossip which served Gatsby so well. BTW i am not joking. in my childhood , my family frequently moved. there were many times when i was the new kid. My choice was always clear, develop working defenses, belly up, or get beaten up. using my brain served me well.

And such is my only my educated opinion, and experience., but i damn sure wasn’t guilty. Now please know that i am superior, so go away.

Praise Allah.

Double Take: When teachers bully

7TH grade, my teacher was a big bully. i beat him up. Not a good soliton. So, i have spent much of the next 4o years thinking and perhaps it is time for this; I have fear for every child being subjected to the ignorance rampant throughout our public schools. They spend a lot more money, but teach our kids the completely wrong things. They become evermore restrictive, which turns our children into compliant herds with every imaginative thought torn out. YIPEE aren't those kids compliant? What perfect workers they are becoming.

Perhaps a complete change or direction is needed. Through a simple change, the bully problem could be reduced way back to a tenth of what it has become. Through that simple change, we could cut our prison populationsin 1/2. Soon 1/2 again that through the efforts of the school as well as efforts made throughout the society that your kids are influenced by. We should build them up as much as possible.

I offer for consideration a better approach to dealing with the bully problem. Of course all adults should offer support as much as posable. But at the same time we should use our brains to enable us to approach the problem in ways different from our typical grunt creations.

I say it is far better if we strengthen our kids, so they are rarely seen as posable prey. Bullies are predators, and all predators know it is far better to attack prey then risk everything on an unsure contest of strength.

A little fun?

To Rockchalk 177;

That is just silly. But is also very sad, and actually dangerous. It is sad because you believe it, and more sad because such beliefs can only exist in a world which never observes real live through a clear lens..then that ignorance is passed to other people too lazy or in capable of knowing the truth, then passed along into fields of ignorance never being corrected. Those masses become powerful enough to harm the innocent.

Hey, wanna have some fun? Do a bit of research and apply whatever truth you find, to those strings of ignorance passing through your world. It should be fun to watch the disruption cause ripples in that ignorance.

Wow, through just a bit work, you might plant seed which can grow enough to disarm entire strings of dangerous ignorance. You might even save a life. COOL, EH?

Sound Off: I recently have gone past Baldwin Junction and noticed they are building a strange little

My intensive research conducted within the many secret scientific research facilities here in the midwest, has provided me with with factual updates to the useless data from MIT.

So i can now announce that the updated, cutting edge and Repub endorsed truth, is beyond all doubt that blue and red will never reproduce any color at all, whenever the base colors have passed thru those tubes, inside that building, while the building was afraid. You see, dome buildings have a natural ability to spasm the tubes within.

OTOH, if the dome shaped building secretly enjoys being filled with salt and sand, the tubes will not spasm and the colors will mix and a sometimes horrid color will exude and spray all over, thus allowing the whole world to see the building's shame, and burden of embarrassment for the rest of that dome's life.

Ya know, at first i too thought the building's contraction was strange. It was almost like it was constructed in such a way to have guilt. But that was way back when i thought every architect tried to create good buildings which only required a bit of proper maintenance to last many many years. and bring happiness to everyone who sought shelter.

But now i know better. I now know that two factors are involved. One is that there are many many people who started out nice, but became twisted and judgmental, They have lost the ability to reason and just do not like any building which contains those nasty tubes. Oh, you are wondering just what created those twisted unhappy hurtful people? Well of course their sad twists were corrosions provided by the same horrible and twisted architect who corroded the people who attacked the buildings in the first place.

Beauty surrounds us, but some corroded people were twisted by the dark side when they were young.

Oh yeah... GREEN.

Do you use a Mac or PC and why?

My first PC was in 1982, and i continued a string of them until this date and i foresee replacing that PC in a couple years. About 6 years ago, my daughter gave me a Macbook. I use it from the comfort of my couch and such. That first macbook was replaced by three Macbook pros. All but my current one met their fate when they tried to cease drawing sustenance from the grid, but they all thought they could run on caffeine. I hope they have learned their lessons.

BTW i enjoy the fact that the Macs are free from virus and assorted malware. The PCs are much less fortunate.

Dental needs

I wholeheartedly concur. While it is true that many old people need dental work too, theirs is not nearly as important as the teeth of children. This is because of a simple truth, that being that all people draw much information and forms their many opinions on their first encounter with any person. With bad teeth comes viewing the person as poor, ignorant, uneducated, dirty and uncouth. When in fact, the only thing wrong with that person is that they have bad teeth which could be caused by numerous problems.

Adults are far better equipped to deal l with those prejudices, but children are without defenses from adults as well as other children. It is much like having poor english. You might think well of a person, until they open their mouthes.

Douglas County Commission to consider SRS plan at meeting today

i say it a very good thing for the county to cover this expense. It is a very good thing and such sup;port is precisely part of what makes the City of Lawrence the vibrant and compassionate place it is as it so well sets apart in blue, from the very red state surrounding it.

All my out of state friends look at Lawrence as an oasis in the sea of intolerance.. That makes me proud to be a part of it.

Even better would be a lawsuit against brownback for some sort of malfeasance or something. I am not a lawyer, but i know he is doing wrong and hope that it will turn against him in the end.

Yay for the Douglas County Commissioners..

Lawrence City Commission approves funding for SRS office

I say BRAVO to the city. This was a wise decision. If the SRS had been forced to leave Lawrence, the lives of many people would have been impacted, and in some cases, lives might have been lost.

But we should always keep in mind that Brownback has done this, which is but one more indication that he should not be Governor.

Lawrence City Commission approves funding for SRS office

You must be kidding. They are state workers and if you would do a little research instead of just shooting you mouth off, you would already know they are working cheap as it is.
