City planners recommending denial of proposed Menard's store; Planning Commission to debate project Monday

Menards expanded in a big way recently in Wichita so it makes sense that they want to reduce shipping costs and expand revenue.

Putting it next door to Home Depot pretty much makes profit for both nil as they compete. Lowes across town was a much better idea.

I wonder if the planning commission considered sizes? A larger menards would kill home depot and create another empty large space. Not to mention lawsuits until home depot was allowed to expand on the property it has.

My opinion is allow something in west lawrence and build on that retail area. The draw of iowa is that everything is there that you need. Do the same thing out west.

Weis to KU defense: No loafing allowed

I like the effort this team is putting forth. I also like that Weis is making it known you don't walk as a Kansas player anymore. Amazing how much damage Gill did to the team in his short time extorting KUathletics.

Rio Adams: Transfer from KU a ‘family decision’

Good luck 'rio. Some people take to the KS weather and flatness, Others just never really like the lack of water and warm sun. Must be really homesick to blame it on family though. KU teams always say it's like family. Try coming in without that and making your own niche like most freshman have to do.

KU earns No. 1 seed in South region

Doesn't really matter. Our guys are tough and they should be able to show that against anyone. Go into a game as a winner not one looking at "Oh, we have the easy way". With Perry manning up finally and Rio coming up I think we have some bench. It seems like the tourney depends on foul trouble and bench. Jamari can come in and bang, Withey doesn't usually have trouble, this should be another banner year.

Agreed. State is just going to go downhill with him but it prolly was the best they could get. Depending on AD and where the money goes, we'll see where they go. With the powerhouse KU football facilities now they may be worried about losing their status there and concentrate on bball for awhile. Then again, with our recent record our money spent doesn't mean anything except a better coaching staff and buildings.

Don't be bitter. This is great for our area. Considering travel time in the east and on the west coast also, it's hard to get guys to come to the middle of nowhere. The years that Mizery and Kstate are competitors helps us with recruits that want to be the best in a hard conference. Let them celebrate. Let us celebrate after the 12tourney.

sfbay, you aren't here and just talking smack.

Rio, talk to Tyshawn and see what can happen. It's frustrating being a top recruit but in the same sense, you are a top recruit. Just bide your time and learn instead of being a bench player. Forward guards seem to be our superstars but look at our guards. Hinrich, Mario, Sherron and Tyshawn all learned how to do it. It's hard to learn to be a quarterback on the basketball team but it is taught. Over time you'll be NBA. Calm and concentrate. Your big men inside and your wings want to help, they want the baskets and want to give you the assists. Get steals and make the endplay.

Lawrence mafia? Chop off a kids legs above the knees so he'll never walk again and pay $1500, take a year off that we pay for, misdemeanor.
