Man robs liquor store at gunpoint

Wow...what a great description. Can we get more? Was he black, white, hispanic, purple, green??? Are we that afraid that we will discriminate by stating color? This is relevant people.

Smokers welcome - and legal - at shop

Why are you people crying and worrying about the employees? If they apply for a job at a smoke shop, they know what they are getting into. No one is forcing them to work there. I actually doubt if anyone other than family will be hired there anyway. Do you people always need a reason to cry?

Listen, now there, ljlook!

it's hot out there in the sand and a beer or two might go a long way towards slaking the thirst developed while hunting down and killing terrs, not to mention taking a bit off the edge after the job is done!

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!

Looks like a lot of folks are jumping on the "too injured to go to Iraq" thing. There has to be a rear detachment so that things like pay, family support etc. get done. I am thankful that there were some rear det. folks driving by my house and checking in on things that I didn't have time to accomplish.

Learn to read folks. I was taking up for the soldier, saying just because he's drinking a beer, doesn't mean he's not too injured to fight. He's not barred from drinking because of an injury.

Read twice, post once.

"And drinking at 2AM, but too injured to go to Iraq?"

Look buddy, there is a HUGE difference between being able to drink a beverage, and being able to run into a building searching for then enemy. Even paralyzed people can drink, but that doesn't make them fit for combat. Why don't you take your crap elsewhere, as I don't see YOU in Iraq.

Kansas Guard unit deployed to U.S.-Mexico border

"It's really too bad. A lot of patriotic types join the National Guard and Army Reserves, then get shipped to some hell-hole assignment like this."

Because this is a much worse assignment than Iraq or Afghanistan, right? They can still call home & communicate daily from the border. It's not as bad as you make it out to be.

Dog trainer gets 21 months for helping murderer escape

"Maynard was convicted of murder, but never pulled the trigger. He was with someone during a murder. So I don't know if he was capable of murder himself."

Maybe you should help him next then. With so many bleeding hearts, it's a wonder he didn't escape sooner.

Do you think Toby Young received the proper punishment for helping a convicted murderer escape?

"Without knowing any facts about the case, and about Manard's original murder case, for that matter, I can't say that I can form a full, well based opinion."

A murder is a murder is a murder is a murder.

He was convicted of MURDER, and she (a trusted person of the state) helped the MURDERER escape. He could have killed again while he was at large. Since he didn't kill while out, people are feeling sorry for the "poor woman who was in love" and duped. Let's forget about her husband at home who came home to find his wife missing, and his bank account light by $10,000.

She disregarded the law, disrespected her family, and deserves no pity.

She should have gotten the maximum punishment.

Have a great day!

Firefighters respond to house fire south of Lawrence

Too many tensions, everyone go get a drink. It's obvious you have time for a drink, since you are busy fighting all day here.

Do you think there needs to be a four-way stop at Baldwin Junction, the intersection of U.S. Highways 56 and 59?

OMG Bowhunter! A bunch of stupid Kansas people trying to navigate a roundabout at 50 mph! Can I bring my video camara and tape the fun for America's Funniest Home Video's?

It's funny when someone calls Kansas people stupid, then proves it by not knowing how to spell the word "CAMERA".

Maybe oldenough needs to use spellcheck before calling people stupid.

Big stoopidhead...duh, huh huh.
