Brownback's tax proposal on the ropes

The picture says it all - a bunch of senile, flabby-assed, old, male Republican crackers, doing what they do best - sitting around making life miserable for everyone who isn't them. Talk about taxation without representation!

Abortion ban to be proposed in Kansas House

What is the obsession that Republicans have with all things sexual? If they could they would set up shop in every woman's uterus to monitor and control the action. If they're not worried about what women do with their own bodies then they fret over homosexuality. Republican's like to say reduce big government and regulations but they are the most intrusive group of "regulators" I've ever seen.

Lawrence community devastated, shocked by closing of its SRS office

I wish Douglas County could secede from the rest of the State of Kansas. Douglas County has the only intelligent people in this miserable hell-hole of a State. Governor Throwback (to the dark ages) is trying to get Douglas County "in line" with the rest of the State by punishing us for consistently voting for the Democrats. The populace of Douglas County could do and does do better for the citizens who live here than anything the Republican schmucks have ever done. Douglas County is the last bastion of "Free State" thinkers. Next election, get off your duff and vote Democrat!

Do you support the proposal to cut state employee pay by 7.5 percent?

It has been my experience working with various State agencies that there is plenty of deadwood employees so there are probably positions that could be eliminated entirely. If the State kept only the productive employees rather than just hanging on to people merely because of longevity, the wage cuts would not be necessary. I have also noted that there seems to be too many "managers" rather than staff that actually produce something of value, so they need to be weeded out too.

Do you think children of undocumented immigrants should be allowed to pay in-state tuition?

Yes. If they are unfortunate to live in Kansas, they deserve something.

Dozens of Lawrence property owners have already received tickets for not shoveling sidewalks

My daughter and granddaughter walked over to the Lawrence Aquatic Center the other day and the CITY OF LAWRENCE had not cleaned the intersection sidewalks from the last snow so they had to detour into the street just to get to a sidewalk that was clear. The CITY OF LAWRENCE doesn't even meet the requirements of their own ordinance. I guess the CITY OF LAWRENCE is too busy shoveling other things at city hall to tend to the public use sidewalks owned by them.

Dozens of Lawrence property owners have already received tickets for not shoveling sidewalks

If the city is worried about "not wanting to get sued for slip and falls." then why are most of the sidewalks at major intersections, which is the responsibility of the city, impassable by a pedestrian? The city needs to shovel something all right and it isn't snow!

Town Talk: Talbots to close; Computers, women's clothing top list of what people leave town to shop for

I am really sorry to hear that Talbot's is closing. There are few places to get quality women's clothing here in town. Granted, I usually had to shop the sales, because they are a little pricey, but I always got the best service there. Guess I will have to drive to Topeka or KC or shop their catalog, now. Bummer.

State Rep. Anthony Brown criticizes Lawrence, KU

You probably don't know how close to the truth you are about Eudora's water. I have never lived where the water has visible white floaty matter in it. It clogs the pipes, the shower head, the water filter in the refrigerator, and apparently the brains of people like Mr. Brown wo drink it.
