Recreation center debate causes commissioner to question 'relevance' of Lawrence Association of Neighborhoods; other notes from last night's Rock Chalk Park meeting

I must be from the wrong side of the tracks! I haven't personally met anyone who DOES want the facility as proposed. I guess putting it to city wide vote would settle both our difference then.

I would rather see a quote from 2008, than $25 million wasted because we said we wanted it in 1994 - the economy has certainly changed in the last 19 years!!

Kansas’ new DUI law bringing big changes

This is definitely a move in the right direction. To me the fact that someone has two offenses and still has a drivers license is ridiculous. Who cares that it will "mess with your life", someone willing to put innocent people at risk for the sake of a good time deserves to have their life "messed with". The logic of thirdplanet that he hasn't hurt or killed anyone yet is absurd, maybe we shouldn't do anything until these idiots that choose to drive drunk kill someone.
If you choose to go out and drink find another way home. If you don't know the difference between a $10 cab ride and $4000 fine then you shouldn't be behind the wheel any way.

School board puts new roof at Kennedy School on hold

Sounds more to me like they are banking on a bond, that doesn't stand a chance, but hoping if they make the school uninhabitable they can sway some people. Certainly glad it isn't my kids school they are gambling with, but feel terrible for the kids that are being used.

Didn't you get the memo? The "task force" - you know the one that "represents the community" decided there isn't enough important people at Wakarusa Valley. This BOE is a total joke

School board puts new roof at Kennedy School on hold

I'm not sure how cheaply built, over priced apartments for KU students has anything to do with the established neighborhoods of east Lawrence?
