‘Power surge’: KU introduces ‘old ball coach’ Charlie Weis to fix, fire-up program

Gill got $2 million. How much did you think we were going to pay for a high profile coach? Certainly not less than Gill. Just get on board with the hire. We have no where to go but up.

At work or play, dogs add light to residents’ lives

This is why my donations go to the ASPCA. Dogs are a companion that will be there for you for the rest of their life. I adopted my last pet and he died at the age of 8. There isn't anything I would do to have him back for an extra week. He was a special dog and nothing could ever replace him. But when I'm ready, I will adopt another because these dogs are the best in world and they understand what you do to sacrifice for them.

Tax bills coming for the holiday

So your neighbors should have to pay the taxes but not you? Don't buy something you can't afford or afford to lose. I'm sorry but the local government wouldn't collect a dime if we let everyone off the hook.

Kansas Highway Patrol putting extra troopers on the road for Saturday's KU-KSU game

Well, before they added the practice facilities, I wish they would have built a stadium at 23rd and Iowa. We missed the boat. I can't help but seeing that track and realize that we are a division II program.

Athletes need support

Having seen both sides of teams with a good offense/bad defense and a good defense/bad offense with the Chiefs, I have to lean to taking a good defense first. Fans can only be loud when the defense is making plays and getting off the field. Its obvious that this team is young and will hopefully develop into a good defense but you can't expect fans to be loud when the team gets down by lopsided margins. The way the Chiefs handled the 2000's destroyed the aura of Arrowhead. That stadium just hasn't been the same since. If you have tickets, then you should go to the game but I can't blame people for leaving early or not going at all.

Mom of missing tot says she took lie detector test

Mom of missing tot says she took lie detector test

Nervous or not. There is a reason basic questions are asked. Does 2+2=4? Yes. Nervous or scared questions like this will give a baseline. Granted, that baseline will be higher in traumatic situations but nevertheless it gives the examiner a place to start.

I agree they can be beaten and most definitely shouldn't be allowed in court but something seems fishy about this case (starting with the cell phones) and the apparent results don't really surprise me.

Letter grades giving way to ‘standards-based’ marks in Lawrence schools

This has to be the most assinine thing I have ever heard. I hope I'm not alone in this. This just seems like an easier way to push, less fortunate, kids through whom don't really deserve to move on. Talk about kids falling through the cracks, this will force the kids through more so than it did before.

How many games do you think the Kansas University football team will win this season?

Why should the students be optimistic? Is being a realist a bad thing?
