Why is is 10x harder to register to vote than it is to get a gun?

Kansas on cutting edge of knife rights

"Rathner said that should not concern the public because he has heard from law enforcement officers anecdotally that kitchen knives are more often used in crimes than the types that were previously banned."

He's saying that since switchblades haven't been used in crimes, then we should go ahead and make them legal again...

Maybe, and this could be a stretch... Maybe switchblades have not been used in crimes because...they have been illegal and really hard to find?

If the logic for ending a ban on something is that said item hasn't been used in crimes lately, then anything can be legalized.

Kansas Supreme Court rules that gun dealers must use highest degree of care in preventing sales to felons

Well unless the gun shop owners were total idiots, they should have recognized that the old lady probably wasn't buying a shotgun for herself while the guy was standing right next to her the whole time and telling her which gun to buy.

Dozens speak against Westar Energy's proposed rate increase and plan to 're-balance' rates

Hey now. We're just trying to keep rates from increasing. With all those crazy plans our yours, the rates could probably be cut in half. No one want that.

City to install blue traffic lights for catching drivers running red lights

The light doesn't just go on when a car runs a red light. It turns on when the traffic signal turns red. So when a cop sees a car coming from the other side of an intersection, cross the intersection after the blue light went on, the officer knows the driver ran the red light.

Proposed budget would reduce free parking downtown, limit funding for retiree marketing

Yes, there are 2 hour parking lots. Those don't work well for people who work downtown and have to park all day.

Great, because Doug Compton got to make the parking garage his own; there will be no more free parking spots downtown.

So people that work downtown will have to pay more for parking to accommodate the city handing Compton the city owned parking garage.

Oh but he didn't get it for free. He still has to pay for the parking spaces...

At least Compton is paying is fair share of taxes for the properties right? No, not even close. But he does get to impose his own tax in the hotel, to pay for the hotel's parking garage!!!

Pair of traffic calming projects — including a blue light at traffic signals — set for city

Not too long ago, stopped at a stop light, the driver in front of me started inching forward in anticipation of the light changing to green. Except, he was actually pulling into the middle of the intersection while the light was red. By the time the light actually turned to green, his truck was almost underneath the traffic light, having traveled almost completely across the intersection and he was staring straight up at the light, waiting for it to change.
