Letter: An angry rant
Bejing's pollution is abhorent because we gave U.S. manufacturers, such as the steel industries, tax incentives which allowed them to move their plants overseas when they were having tantrums about our new EPA laws. Unfortunately for everyone, China and the rest of the planet, the lack of strong and enforced environmental laws is affecting the entire planet. If American industry, and we the people, had just bitten the bullet thirty years ago, we likely wouldn't be in this mess now.

Opinion: Local lefties thriving at next level
I've always liked the word southpaw for left handed players ,but then Keegan wouldn't have had as much fun putting a political slant on baseball, which is not a good fit.
Do you think we can stop putting political slants on everything now? It's become trite.

Sound Off: Roundabout lights
Wonder how that 18-wheeler Knight Transport truck that parks overnight on E. 25th Terrace manages that roundabout.

Should Lawrence be doing more to attract retirees?
Are we still talking about this with sales and property taxes going up? What a laugh. Maybe if we did away with the sales tax on food, but other wise? fergidaboudit.

Attorney general seeks $1.2 million to defend new laws
At least our city commissioners are smarter than those in a PA town where they passed a law requiring landlords to evict tenants after a given number of disturbance calls to their local police department; disturbances including domestic violence calls. After three or four domestic calls by the tenant, or the tenant's neighbors,a victim of domestic violence gets evicted. ACLU is now involved in an open case. This is how dumbed down elected officials are in the U.S. now.

Perses, your comment is the first I've heard about KS democrats not caring about the rural vote. They're on my mind everytime our legislature does their clown act. Since I seem to have missed examples of the state Dems failing the rural segment of our state, please enlighten me.
