Town Talk: Papa Murphy's pizza, karate, wireless phone store and a credit union slated for new West Lawrence center
I just suggested Menards or Lowe's because Lawrence needs another home improvement store. It would certainly give Home Depot some competition.

Town Talk: Papa Murphy's pizza, karate, wireless phone store and a credit union slated for new West Lawrence center
Why can't you get a Menards or Lowe's out there? Perhaps Dick's Sporting Goods?

Town Talk: O'Reilly Auto Parts to open Sixth and Kasold store by mid-November; dry cleaning business expands west; Lone Star Lake E. Coli levels rise; Baldwin working to keep Maple Leaf route clear
So O'Reilly Auto Parts is opening another location in Lawrence. Big deal! Maybe that shopping center did need to be revived, but it's just auto parts, folks! Besides, you'll find O'Reilly about anywhere you go anymore. So why get all hyped up about it?

Federal appeals court: Town can limit funeral protests
Westboro Baptist should be prohibited from protesting at funerals. I'm all for that. If you think about it, Westboro obviously isn't a church if they protest at people's funerals. If they are a church, then they sure are a poor excuse for one!

Town Talk: Earthbound Trading Company set to open in Downtown Lawrence; talk of Kansas City's Jazz restaurant to open locally; fire engines and a change in how the city spends its sales tax dollars
In a college town like Lawrence, there would surely be abundant demand for Cajun cuisine. Massachusetts Street would be the prime location for such a restaurant. So you can bet Jazz, a Louisiana Kitchen, may come to town eventually...

Town Talk: Plans for Rock Chalk Park sports complex in N.W. Lawrence, including amphitheater and future arena site; N.Y. hedge funds makes local industrial purchase, plus weekly land transfers
Is the recreation center still including an indoor ice rink? Lawrence could certainly use one, perhaps even a roller rink too. Up here in Saint Joseph (a city smaller in population than Lawrence), we have managed to support both a roller rink and an ice rink for many years. There's no reason why Lawrence couldn't support these amenities. Just a thought...

South Lawrence Trafficway legal fight ends with passing of deadline
I'm not particularly fond of the South Lawrence Trafficway being built through the wetlands either, but it had to connected up somehow. Perhaps a better effort to save the Baker wetlands would've come in the long run had the western half of the SLT never been built. In my opinion, Highway 10 was probably just fine the way it was before, coming straight into Lawrence from the east as 23rd Street, and stopping at Highway 59 (Iowa Street). You may disagree with me, but that's just what I think.

Town Talk: Bouncy houses coming to East 23rd Street; major affordable housing complex proposed near 23rd and O'Connell; library hopes to move to Borders spot by mid-December
The former Borders is a reasonable temporary location for the library, but I always thought that building would be perfect for a Barnes & Noble.

Lawrence ranked among top college towns
Yeah, Lawrence has consistently ranked among the best college towns in the nation. So this is no surprise; after all, your town does have quite a lot to offer. I live in Saint Joseph, MO, and try to come to Lawrence whenever I can.
(P.S.: I wonder where Manhattan ranked...)
