Gasoline may have leaked farther than thought, KDHE says

I live directly across the street from this station. I wonder if they will have to do anything to my house.

Another Wal-Mart coming to town

Someone told me once that each Walmart doesn't have to pay property taxes until it's been on the property for 10 years.

I don't know if this is true.

It would explain why they always abandon one building after 8 years only to build another one directly across the street.

Krause Dining ordering new venue

He needs to open a small grocery store downtown. Someplace where you can get cigarettes till 3am and local produce and meats.

Now that...would be awesome!

Do you think the nightlife in Lawrence is getting more dangerous?

Wow...so much 70's and disco talk today! You can still dress up like that and hear that music...The Taproom this Thursday night!!!

Dolly Surprise!!!

I love the nightlife in Lawrence. I never feel unsafe. I walk home alone all the time. Shootings like this happen everywhere.

There is no reason to stop going to the granada. Perhaps don't go on a friday or saturday, but that doesn't mean you should avoid it alltogether.

What would be the ideal festival for Lawrence?

I hate the idea of anything like this being at Clinton Lake. A great deal of Lawrencians do not own cars and can't make it out there...including myself. How many people do you think would actually go there? Wakarusa Festival is one thing...but keep a Lawrence birthday in Lawrence.

What would you do to make the future city of Lawrence a better place?

Red Lobster and Olive Garden require 75K residents. So there's no reason for us not to have one.

I think a small grocery store downtown would be nice. I live downtown and don't have a car. It's not easy to hop on a bus with 8 grocery bags and wait a day and a half to get home with them.
I grew up in Memphis Tennessee. We had these small grocery stores on street corners called "Easy Way". Most of it was produce, but they did have other things you need. I think a store like that would do well in a downtown building or around 9th and Alabama. There is a little stripmall there that struggles.

A GROCERY STORE DOWNTOWN!!! And a pharmacy with better prices and hours than Roundcorner. Doesn't have to be a franchise. But seriously...Roundcorner...get your act together. You have very little to choose from and your prices are rediculous.

Police investigate reported rape of KU student

i never said i went down the stairs did i? You can do a lot of yelling from the top to convince someone to leave. And the guy was next to the porch when the boyfriend left. Doesn't matter anyway. I have people pass by my house all the time. But I've never felt a threat until now.

Don't accuse someone of being an idiot or fool. After all...you're the one on the right.

Police investigate reported rape of KU student

I'm glad to see that there is something in the paper about all the sexual assult going on around town. I live close to downtown and had to press charges against a dude the other day. He sat on my porch looking in my windows and played with himself. When my boyfriend left the house and drove off in the car, the dude walked into my house. He took his shirt off and started walking up my stairs. Thank goodness I was there to stop him from coming up! Unfortunately, I had just woken up and was completely naked while dealing with this guy! I finally got him to leave. But not without him sitting outside my house, looking in my windows, and continuing to touch himself while he waiting for the police.

How come we never hear about these creeps? I can't keep my door unlocked at ANY point now.
