Appeals court knocks down Montana law similar to Kansas' Second Amendment Protection Act

Obama has dramatically expanded these programs and practices. G W Bush never used the IRS to do what the Obama appointees and bureaucrats have done by going after the conservative and tea party groups. I do not agree with all that any President does but certainly Obama has demonstrated that he is a first class hypocrite on civil liberties issues!

Notable Kansans weighing in against new appellate court selection process

Under the old system the Kansas Bar Association is given too much power. They control most of the positions on the nominating commissions. If the nominating commissions are reformed to allow more accountability and public input there might be a way to make the old system work. However, it is presently broken as the legal establishment has much more control over the selection of judges than does the public. The system devised for selection of the appellate nominees is set up much, as is, the Federal system to allow the governor to nominate and the Senate-the elected representatives of the people--to confirm. The legal establishment already has enough power without the power of selecting our Supreme Court and Appellate Court nominees.

Sometimes the only way to defend liberty is to fight against the Federal encroachment. The legislature seems to have a majority of members who believe that their interpretation of the Constitution is just as important as some bureaucrat in D.C.

Many of us believe that the mockery of the law is coming from Obama and Washington and NOT from Topeka. The liberties protected by the Constitution are made into a complete joke by a liberal Administration run wild that does not respect privacy or the rights of individuals. Look at the IRS and NSA scandals and tell me how much Obama and the Federal government respect our rights. If anyone is "stupid" it is those who refuse to open their eyes and see what Obama and Sebelius are doing to America.

Is this the best argument you can come up with name-calling? I doubt the purpose of the law was to make you happy--it was and is to defend --our right to keep an bear arms as protected by the Constitution. If name-calling is the best you can do to make an argument you are going to have to go back to the drawing board...

Gov. Brownback nominates top lawyer for Kansas appeals court

come on liberals--this is a good nominee--and certainly the best that a liberal is going to get out of Brownback. A competent and fair person who has a good legal mind he certainly deserves a fair hearing and unless there is a major moral failure in his past he is likely to be confirmed quickly.

Kassebaum: Davis will need moderate Republicans in campaign against Brownback

The fact is if we can get rid of the state income tax we will benefit all of the people of Kansas. Look at the growth percentages in the states with no income tax. Brownback is doing all he can to get business and economic growth in Kansas. Sebelius made us the high tax capital on the plains and left the state with our general fund broke!
Brownback and the fiscally conservative leadership that has been put in place has brought Kansas around and moved our state in a forward direction financially. Kansas would be very foolish to turn back to liberalism by turning to Davis and Kassebaum they have no anwers just tax and tax, spend and spend.
That aside from the general anti-family liberalism of supporting unlimited abortion on demand and homosexual (gay) marriage how out of step with most Kansans!

Hensley wants Brownback to speed Court of Appeals nomination

It would appear, that in this case, it is Hensley and the D's who are politicizing the selection process, what is the real issue here? The Republicans certainly have the votes in the Kansas Senate to confirm any nominee that the Governor submits why politicize the process unless it is merely a political move...by Hensley.

Lawrence clinic receives grant to help enroll residents in Affordable Care Act

It's hard to put lipstick on a pig...this Obamacare law is a disgrace to the cause of healthcare...it needs to be repealed and replaced with positive market driven approaches that reduce cost and give incentives to personal responsibilty in health care. The government is doing nothing more than destroying the finest health care system in the world by reducing it to some kind of of half-baked government run system. Shame on Obama and his minions...shame...shame...shame.
