KU student from Derby identified as pedestrian pinned between two vehicles in accident Sunday near campus
I thought I was the only one in town with these thoughts. Glad to read someone else knows about the mumbo jumbo. But this sad event is about Julian and the other young adults and youth who, according to reports, were all drinking and being stupid drunks. If anyone is to say it is "Charlie's fault' then you have in include the parents of every single person involved, including young Colby's parents. This tragic event could have been prevented if parents taught their kids that Lawrence and KU is not a 1950's small town where you can walk down the middle of the street and 2:00am drunk and not get hit by a car----whoops that is a political comment that is not needed in this discussion.

Oread Inn wins approval from city
Let's do some math. $40,000,000.00 divided by 20 years is $2,000,000.00 Just dividing this $2,000,000.00 by the 200 employees supposedly to be hired leaves a base salary of $10,000.00 Is this a benefit to our community?

Shelter should be downtown, city told
Living near downtown on the "homeless highway", I wish the shelter was elsewhere. I am very tired of having drunk, drugged homeless persons on my or the neighbors' property, any time of the day or night, making noise, leaving litter, and cursing at me when I ask them to leave. Sometimes, they are so drunk or drugged, I am afraid to enter or leave my own home.
I am tired of watching persons going to the bathroom behind buildings where they think they cannot be seen. Do these persons really believe they are invisible? Homes and businesses do have windows.
Build the shelter near to the river. Give these persons a chance to have shelter without insulting other citizens who have homes or work downtown.
