Merrill,

Site some facts if it is nonsense. You see to have a cut and paste for everything, but not my statement.

Local leaders dissect the Lawrence economy's challenges and opportunities

Laura Routh is only proving why nobody takes LAN seriously anymore. I cannot think of one single project LAN has been for, besides the Pouler building in East Lawrence (which is the most TAX Subsidized project ever done in Lawrence).

Pot meet kettle...

As Briggs prepares to move out of Sears building, rumors heat up that Dick's Sporting Goods will be moving in

By supporting Brigg's Autogroup, a portion of all sales goes to the K-State Catbackers Club. Although a good cause, I prefer to support KU over K-State....

City agrees to expand rental inspection program to all areas of Lawrence

Landlord can but that doesn't mean I have to allow the city in.

City agrees to expand rental inspection program to all areas of Lawrence

As a tenant, I am just going to refuse the city entry into my dwelling. My landlord takes good care of his properties, so I don't need a stranger looking through my underwear. If they want to go to court, so be it but by the time the case is heard I will be living in another city. Without probable cause, I don't think they have the authority to enter my home.

City agrees to expand rental inspection program to all areas of Lawrence

Inspections will not pay for itself. This will cost the tax payers money and there are already processes in the books for tenants to call in bad landlords. Old blighted properties will be torn down for new properties, increasing density, utilities and city services. Rents are going to go up, and the renters are the ones who will suffer...

Oh wait, that is what Merrill says about everything else...

Change in state law expected to produce fewer historic preservation reviews in Lawrence

It was wiped clean in about 3 weeks time, and the Historic Resources Admin didn't even question what they were doing with the house, or ever check how it was being disassembled, where it was being stored, and if they were following correct procedure. A waste of money for the City to have a Historic Resources Admin if they cannot even check on the projects they have.

Change in state law expected to produce fewer historic preservation reviews in Lawrence

This will give Linda Zollner something to do now, since her job will not be overlapping with her husbands job at the State. Maybe now a house that a developer is moving will not be torn down without anyone from the city even questioning it until it is too late.
