DUI fatalities drop sharply in wake of recent law

As a mother whose only daughter was killed by a drunk driver and volunteer for MADD, I am very proud to say that I went to Washington DC and lobbied for this law in Kansas and was so pleased when it passed. More work to be done but it is a step in the right direction.

Drunken driver who killed Lawrence woman on bicycle sentenced to 6 months in jail

I couldn't let this one go by without a comment. He serves six months, the family of the victim is serving a lifetime sentence without their loved one. Where is the justice in this case ???? My only daughter was killed by a drunk driver nearly 25 years ago and a day never goes by that I don't think about her and miss her. Please don't drink and drive !!!!

What are your personal goals for 2010?

To survive the current administration ! They act like a bunch of spoiled brats each trying to have their own way.We need to start over with a brand new bunch and then get rid of them at the first sign of corruption. Happy New Year everybody !

Highway patrol program targeted drunk drivers on Lawrence streets

All you folks who think dui check points should be illegal have never had to bury your only daughter because she was hit and killed by a drunk driver. Drunk driving is a choice people make thinking they won't have a wreck or get caught. Well guess what, I never thought I would have to bury a child either but it doesn't always happen to the other person, sometimes it happens to you. I wish law enforcement could catch every single one of the drunks on the highway because I am sharing the road with them. Keep up the good work lawmen !

Both drivers in K-10 double fatality had about 3 times the legal limit of alcohol

As the mother of a daughter who was killed by a drunk driver I can tell you that drunk driving is a very serious crime and one that could be prevented if everyone would decide to make better choices. My heart goes out to the families as well because nothing hurts more than burying your child. You get through it but you never get over it. I publicly speak to DUI offenders trying to get the message out there that there are serious consequences driving while drunk. Until everyone realizes this drunk driving will continue and more and more lives will be lost as a result.
