2013 budget open to public comment Wednesday

"Public discussion of a plan to give a small tract of property next to the United Way building (which the county owns) to Tenets to Homeowners to build some housing for seniors. This process — the county handing over the land, at least — is all but done."

Tenants to Homeowners has misrepresented the neighborhood. I plan to attend the Wednesday meeting in hopes there is a chance to let the Commission know how TtH has been false in their statements they have the support of the adjacent homeowners. I live adjacent and knew nothing of the plan until recently and I'm furious. I do not support this plan and I hope there is still time to stop it.

KU School of Business class teaches graduate students how to commit fraud, identity theft

ah ha Ha HA HA... no. After graduation, I got a financial analyst-type position in loss prevention for a local company. While I don't have fraud prevention as a job duty, my department is responsible for minimizing those opportunities.

KU School of Business class teaches graduate students how to commit fraud, identity theft

I've taken that class and it was fascinating how many different ways fraud is committed by people no one would suspect. My favorite part of the course was on the topic of micro-expressions (highlighted in the TV show "Lie To Me"). One group in my class filmed themselves telling lies and were able to go through the film frame-by-frame to catch those brief moments when their faces made involuntary expressions. This class ranks as my favorite of all I took at KU. Teacher Paul Mason is pretty cool too.

What's one of your dad's favorite sayings?

People would be happy if they just did what I told them to do.

Oh hey, I know this game! It's called Burnout: Takedown. I wonder if he got the crash multiplyer.

A Lawrence radio station switched its format from rock to country music on Thursday. Which music do you prefer, country or rock?

Grrr. I'll be running out to my car now to clear that spot on my favorite channels.

What is your favorite board game?

Settlers of Catan, Carcasonne, Puerto Rico, Tsuro... it's too difficult to pick just one.

Man ordered to stand trial for rabbit's death

Agnostick, you presume quite a bit. For one thing, Jamie never called the police, Austin turned himself in. Austin also stated the rabbit was ill and he had tried to find another home for it. Austin may not have know that the HS takes in pet rabbits, I didn't know until last year when I adopted a dog.

You are right though that the DA must prove intent. If the prosecution cannot prove that Austin intended to torture the animal, the case will be dropped.

I sincerely hope that this fellow did not mean harm and that he was just incompetent at humanely ending the pain an ill pet.

Man ordered to stand trial for rabbit's death

The courthouse was evacuated the other day because of a dead mouse. I wonder if they'll ever find the poor little guy's killer.
