Compton hopes to develop multistory apartment, retail building at 11th and Massachusetts

I'm kinda curious as to when Lawrence is going to be renamed "Comptonville"?

South Lawrence Trafficway contract to be awarded Sept. 18; construction to begin soon after

And there again sourpuss...... if your types of people would have quit trying to stop the building of it years ago and let it happen.... it would have saved a TON of money. But now not so much. So..... I guess I don't feel a bit sorry for all you people that are now complaining of the cost of it.

Police planning DUI checkpoint in Lawrence Friday night

I realize these stops can be a very good thing to catch these people who continue to drink and drive and risk not only their own life, but innocent others. But...... the thing about these check points is the officers that are running them are more than less the pots calling the kettles black. I on NUMEROUS occasions have witnessed officers, yes, your local LPD officers get behind the wheel of a vehicle and drive home so drunk they could hardly walk. Whether it be from Bowling Leagues they were in, a week night softball game at Clinton Lake, Golf Tournaments, etc. I have seen it all. Its "ok" for them to do it becasue they are LEO's! I just find it very hypocritical is all!

Sound Off: Truck dogs

I get so sick and tired of hearing about people worrying about this issue! I've hauled every dog I've owned in the back of my truck and every dog I will have later on after the current one will ride in the bed of the truck. I've never seen the big issue with it. If a dog jumps out its they're own fault. Dogs are a lot smarter than what you may think, and also have an amazing sence of balance. 99% of the time they arnt going to do anything to endanger themselves!

City of Lawrence begins using new automated trash truck

No, its far from being a grouch! Its plain and simple that society is getting extremely LAZY! Its nothing like it was 10-15 years ago. People spend more and more time trying to think of ways to get out of work/making it easier. Kinda goes along with why the obesity rate is so high! More and more of sitting on their butts, rather than actually working!

I know what you mean! I live on E25th Terrace and it astonishes me the amount of trash some people have, yet they never get cited for it. I know if it were me in that situation I'd be the first one to get nailed with "Too Much"

Just another prime example of making something that much easier for someone to do. This is also another prime example of how LAZY this society is becoming anymore. Just another prime example of people having to do less and less MANUAL labor! In this day and age if it can't be done by computer, cellphone, etc people don't want a thing to do with it. Its quite sad actually, but it will only get worse as years go on with the way today's youth is brought up with video games, etc.

Powerlifter to take place among elite American Indian athletes in national hall of fame

Congrats Brady! I have never met another person in life thats as hardworking, positive, upbeat, loyal, caring as Brady! I was honered to have gone to LHS with Brady. Every morning when you would see him in the halls he would have that gleaming smile and politely greet you with a simple "Hello" Brady, keep up that hard work that has gotten you to where you are now, and never lose that positive attitude! I wish more people in the world had your drive and determination! Your a heck of a role model to so many people!

Firefighters investigate cause of blaze at unoccupied mobile home on West 31st Street

I heard all the sirens as I was leaving my house this morning over by 25th and Haskell. I was curious as to where they were going.

SLT loophole

I was simply asking a question. You don't have to get all bent out of shape over it!
