Lawhorn's Lawrence: Hopping around with downtown's Toad

Tim is a really great guy! Just the other day he called me just to tell me he liked the way my yard was looking after sprucing it up some. Always a friendly smile and great for a chat!

The sequel: Freezing rain, snow expected to hit Lawrence Monday

It is possible that the plows aren't easy to change the direction they are faced. I know nothing about the mechanics of snow plows but maybe that's why they do it.

You could always find a place to park that isn't on the street if it poses such difficulty. Either way its going to take everyone extra time in snowy weather. People with driveways are going to need to shovel their driveway before they can leave. It is not their job to make your life easier but to make it safer. And one of those is getting the streets cleared to the best of their abilities and to what they are allowed and by whatever deadlines their bosses give them. So yes it may seem like they aren't doing as great of a job as to what they would do if they had the time to do so. But keep in mind they have everyone in town wanted their street completely removed of snow, people park on whatever side of the street they want, there are often stuck cars everywhere etc. This list goes on and on. Plan accordingly that it will take you a lot of extra time to get out and to drive slowly and safely.

U.S. Postal Service to deliver on Sunday because of snow

They were ONLY delivering packages yesterday. And they only had two people work yesterday. That is why NO ONE had mail delivered on Sunday. Ljworld was not specific about it but Fox 4 and KCTV5 were. I know this for a fact because my husband was one of the two who worked yesterday.

Mail deliveries interrupted by snow; normal schedule should return Saturday

If they didnt get people to remove the snow that was plowed downtown there would be tons of people on here complain about how there are no parking spots. The only real thing that they can do is haul it out.

Mail deliveries interrupted by snow; normal schedule should return Saturday

Am I the only one who considers that the men and women doing the plowing have been at this for over a day now?! It takes time to get the job done, so give it to them! They deserve breaks! There was a lot of snow yesterday and then they have everyone pestering them to get the job done quickly. If you want them to plow your streets that quickly then it will NOT be perfect. Get a shovel and dig out your driveways and sidewalks. How about you do it in the amount of time that you expect them to clear every road in town!

Woman injured after being struck by vehicle on 23rd Street

If the woman were crossing legally in the crosswalk when the light was green for her she would have had no reason to be stopped in the turning lane. Crosswalks are put in to protect pedestrians, not only from people who aren't paying attention but from peple who don't have the time to stop or simply make the mistake of not seeing something. Accidents happen and no one is perfect. I do not know one person who hasn't curb checked or did something because they miscalculated or for a mere second wasn't giving their 100% attention.

I wish the best for the woman who was injured but I also hope that the person who accidently hit her is doing well. It is a traumatic situation for both of them and hopefully they both have learned their lessons. She will cross in a crosswalk and the driver do everything that he can to give his full attention while driving and if he can't will think twice about getting in the vehicle.

It could happen to anyone.

Man accused of shoplifting, then biting Walmart employee

They have these rules to avoid harassment and other lawsuits. Which is why they are so strict and have to follow them. I don't know about this specific situation but these rules are in place for that very reason. The only time anyone is ever physically detained is when they put up a fight. I have watched people run off leaving their children behind so that they dont get caught.

Bottom line: don't steal and you won't end up in this position.

Man accused of shoplifting, then biting Walmart employee

There are specific people hired at Walmart to do this job. Yes they are still Walmart employees. I doubt it was a average hourly associate that did this. It was probably one of asset protection. And the guy was shoplifting he had no reason to bite the employee. People always want to assume it was the corporation that was wrong even if there was clearly a guilty person in the wrong.
