Man charged with aggravated assault in pistol-whipping at pool hall
Since enactment of a new Lawrence ordinance (City Code section 14-408-- March 2006) governing possession of firearms within 200ft of a bar (which effectively translates to just about all of downtown Lawrence), users of the Range should be aware that firearms carried into the Community Building must be unloaded; magazines of semi-auto firearms should be empty, as a loaded magazine in proximity to the firearm for which it is designed may be considered a loaded weapon. From the Douglas County Rifle/Pistol Club rules. Maybe changed since 2006 but is still in the rules on website today.
