Opinion: Benghazi, IRS: Son of Watergate?
Really Dude, the "free stuff" crowd crack me up. What perks do you think I'm getting? I'm interested to know.

Jonas, I agree. Who would you give the award to?

Two convenience stores coming to downtown Lawrence
Wanting a sugar free slushie sounds to me like ordering a pizza without cheese. Isn't the sugar a big part of why people order those drinks? I just use my blender when I'm wanting a healthy natural crushed ice drink.

Downtown hotel project now slated to begin in June, following city's latest approval
I agree infidel, why should we care if someone recycles something someone else is throwing away? In fact, if you love our city and community, recycling and paying your taxes are probably two of the best ways to give back and support it.

Wiggins followed heart in signing with Jayhawks
I'm so excited to see Wiggins play for Kansas. I think I might celebrate all day, all week, all year. Thanks for choosing KU Andrew, you made the right choice.

There's no way we're going to get Bush to give back his trophy for most incompetent/corrupt. I think he's rather too proud for that, and besides, he is in fact the more deserving of the title.

City estimates it may cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per year to keep concealed weapons out of city buildings
A couple hundred thousand dollars a year? No worries, Lawrence is ripe with cash because of all the money we've saved by not updating our police department, fixing our crumbling roads, sewer system, and other infrastructure. Heck, we'll be spending way more than a few hundred thousand a year on the maintenance of the new recreation center we're building. Maybe we should just ask Fritzel to work it into the budget as an add on to the 30 million we've already blindly decided to give to him to build us that expensive warehouse with locker rooms and basketball courts?

Opinion: Panic diverts attention from real threats
Verity, you make some very good points. Just how much do 3-D printers cost? I'm guessing somewhere in the range of a good used car? Anyway, I think you're right, besides the high cost of the printer, no business that owns one is going to want to expose themselves to the liability of manufacturing a plastic gun unless they had a very big order to fill. And a plastic gun that's only good for one firing doesn't sound very practical to me. I can't imagine there would be a big enough market for them that we'll see a company start to make them anytime soon.

Wicked Broadband project seeks $500,000 city grant; downtown hotel project seeks adjustment to incentives package; historical society seeks $20k for new exhibit
Ok, I'm open to new ideas, how do you propose we grow the city? Do you think we can get people from KC and Topeka to come here with their dirty clothes and we can promote Lawrence as a great place to do laundry?

Compton is having his property taxes abated for twenty years so he'll be paying the same amount on the hotel as he would if it were still a vacant lot. He'll also be charging a special tax at the hotel so we'll also be helping him pay for a private parking garage because the public one he took over next door for his apartment building isn't going to be big enough to handle the added congestion his hotel will bring. I don't think it's jealousy that feeds people's dislike of Doug, it's more the fact that Doug is often taking much and in return giving us back more low paying maid, laundry, and dishwasher jobs. We should be saving our tax incentives for projects that bring new industry to our town and better paying jobs that might get us off the bottom of the worst performing cities list. Compton is more a part of the problem with our city than a viable solution to our economic woes.
