Summer job outlook good, not great

No, they don't hire literally 100's, the building isn't that big. When I worked there they had about 20 part time college students. A few years ago they actually had to let go of a little less than half the workforce. Don't forget this company received many tax breaks to locate here and never hired the number of employees they promised in order to receive those tax breaks. We need well paying jobs for full time workers in this town, not the part time jobs you're championing. I worked there for three years and was never paid more than the minimum they gave the part time kids off the street with no experience. For someone with a college degree this company does not offer good pay or much chance for advancement. They may in fact offer a few part time positions, but I would not recommend working there if you're looking for a career and need to support a family.

Lawhorn's Lawrence: A night of partying in Oread

My dad used to always say, you work hard, you play hard. He thought it was perfectly OK to have a beer or two after a hard days work. I can understand these students wanting to cut loose a little bit after four or five years of studying and working through college. These kids have just graduated and are moving on to bigger things. This is one last chance for them to cut loose and have some fun with the many friends they've made while attending KU. If they're doing it responsibly I don't see any real harm in it. Congratulations students, get out there and make us proud.

Day after city's bid opening for recreation center, relief and a few questions

It's like when a car salesman tells you that the car you'd like to buy is worth x amount, but they're going to give you a great deal and sell it to you for a special low price. I'm guessing that when it's all said and done the project will go way over budget and Fritzel will get paid whatever he's wanting from us.

Police to aggressively enforce seat-belt laws in 2013 Click It or Ticket campaign

Does anyone know if the seat belt law applies to antique vehicles that were made before they started installing seat belts in cars? My antique car doesn't have belts and tops out at about 45 mph. Am I going to get busted?

Day after city's bid opening for recreation center, relief and a few questions

"How much will the recreation center end up costing the city? We don’t quite have that number yet,"... but we should expect that we'll all be paying for this for many years to come. How much are we budgeting for maintenance, utility costs, insurance, etc. and how much will all of those expenses cost us over the next twenty years?

Faith Forum: Why does God allow events that kill innocent people, like the recent Texas fertilizer plant explosion and Boston bombings?

Whomever wrote the bible got it all wrong. God, if there is one, is a woman. Think about it, did you ever hear of or see a man give birth to anything.

Bill Self basks in glow

I'm really looking forward to next year's season. It's been big fun to be a KU fan with Self at the helm. Great job Bill, keep up the good work.
