Garden Calendar: Strawberry growers use innovative methods for earlier crop
We have gone here for 3 years now and picked 20-30 lbs of berries each time. We make huge batches of freezer jam and enjoy a little taste of summer each time we crack open a jar - even in the dead of winter! Keep up the great work!

Lawrence residents sculpt snow creatures
So fun! I love to see people's creativity come out at times like this - reminds me that people can be fun-loving and light-hearted! We saw Yoda (we named him Snow-da) and had to snap a picture, too. There was an entire gathering of snowmen in a yard on Maine near Fourth Street. Keep up the fun work, Mike!

Rain or shine, pastor’s daily devotion to running carries prayers though Lawrence
Well said and I couldn't agree more! He is an inspiration to us all to quietly yet intentionally carry the Light in a hurting world. I'm sure this article was more exposure that he was ever expecting or preferred, but I'm glad to see such selfless determination highlighted in a positive way.

Lawrence mother gets 3 years of probation for manslaughter in death of her 5-year-old
Judge Martin is just following the pattern we have seen for years...the younger the child, the less the punishment. So sad. A life lost = Probation??

What a great shop! Very reasonable prices. I purchased numerous Christmas gifts here this year. I love that buying Fair Trade gifts benefits everyone!

Opinion: Republicans can’t deny demography
Obama won because he has the 'it' factor. The cool kids like him. Who doesn't want to be a cool kid or at least liked by the cool kids? So there goes the popular vote. Like lemmings to the sea, there goes the nation. Told what is the newest and coolest way to think and believe. Obama, the modern day pied piper. Congratulations on being so novel.
Well, I don't want a cool guy with the 'it' factor leading our nation. It takes a bit more than talk of hope and change to get my vote. I want a LEADER. This nation needs a parent more than a buddy to step up to the plate and do the hard work of righting this ship. I don't mean morally, either. I don't look to my president to be my moral compass. But I do look to my president to LEAD. Obama had four years to have a crack at leading us and where are we? No better off. Sadly, though, no amount of donning North Face jackets by Romney/Ryan could win over the we-are-so-much-cooler-than-your-mom-and-everything-she-stands-for-crowd. Let's see how cool we feel in another four years.

Kansas GOP right sees less spending, more tax cuts
If John Hannah was leaning any more to the left he'd be falling over. Just report the news. Save your leanings for the opinion page. Sheesh. Reporters. Just give us the news already.

What store, if any, is downtown lacking?
Going back to the good ol' days - NY Bagel. So sad that they couldn't hang on when Einstein's moved in. BEST BAGELS I HAVE EVER EATEN!! I still shed a tear when I walk the east side of the 800 block of Mass.
