Sound off: Are there any schools in Lawrence that collect boxtops for education coupons?

Does anyone know why the middle schools don't collect them?

I don't care what you do or don't buy... you're no one to me or anyone else involved in the situation. Regardless, do you really think it's ethical for an innocent, friendly dog to be shot in the head just for sitting on someones property? If so, I feel bad for anyone in your life. You're as sick as the killer.

Please see a previous comment where it is mentioned that the news story was incorrect in stating the owner had been warned/threatened that his dog would be shot... it was actually a neighbor who had been threatened. The killer had never confronted the owner about any problems with the dog.

If you'd read the previous comments, you'd know that the news story was incorrect in saying that the owner had been warned and their dog threatened. It was a neighbor who had been threatened... and the owner didn't know about this until AFTER his dog was murdered.

Where are you getting your misinformation? Each lot (8 of them) is at least 10 acres. Get a job, or a hobby.

Quit stretching the truth? Quit trying to be a know it all. Go talk to the 7 people who bought lots in the SUBDIVISION and tell me it's not a subdivision. Better yet, drive out there and see for yourself if it's that big of a deal to you.

If you don't like animals, stay out of the country where there are no leash laws. Plain and simple. I like how people see 22 seconds of a story and think that's enough to form an opinion. I really wish they would fix the clip and upload the entire thing.
Last time I checked Golden Retrievers weren't vicious dogs. It's interesting to me how people like to blame the victim. Go tell a mother who's child is kidnapped when they turn their back for a split second that she should have been more attentive, and see where that gets you. Any person who can shoot a dog for pleasure, needs their head examined... and anyone who upholds for them needs theirs checked as well.

This is a subdivision, the shooter is the only person in the area who doesn't have pets. He never once confronted the owners about the dog, if they had, it probably wouldn't have turned out the way it did. Every person out there lets their dogs run. It's the country... dogs run around, not unheard of or illegal. It takes a cruel and evil person to walk up to a dog and shoot it in the head. I wouldn't be surprised if a human isn't his next victim, or already has been. This type of behavior is not acceptable.

The only way for someone to know something like that is to be told. Obviously they were not. How is this hard to believe?
