Abortion group sees special session as opportunity

If pro-lifers had half as much compassion for the mother as they do for the fetus, then they'd buzz off and mind their own gosh darn business. Not your body, not your decision.

Judge puts parts of new Kansas abortion law on hold

Except verity never used the words 'unexpectedly' or 'pregnant' in her post. Kind of ruins your whole premise doesn't it? Thanks for playing though.

New study ranks Lawrence ninth smartest city in the country

I don't doubt that Lawrence ranks higher than most communities in terms of average intelligence, but if you're gullible enough to believe playing games improves your mental acuity I've got some snake oil you might also be interested in.

State seeking proposal to develop resort at Clinton Lake State Park

"Sometimes people WANT to be away from the middle of the city!!"

Yes, and part of that desire is to encounter minimal to no development, the very thing one is trying to escape in the city. By creating a specific destination out in (and I use this term generally) wilderness, you create the opposite of a getaway destination. Thoreau and Muir would be absolutely appalled by the current state of Walden and Yosemite respectively.

Ideally, in a wilderness setting, the only reference to the outside developed world should be the path one came in on.

State or Federal, either way it's public land and should remain so indefinitely.

State seeking proposal to develop resort at Clinton Lake State Park

#Please, no.

Kansas ranks last in public land ownership, with less than 1% of all land belonging to the public. We don't need to reduce that total one square inch. Leave the environs of the lake alone, pretty much the only thing going for Clinton these days is the scenery.

The city didn't make him pay squat. Fritzel decided his own punishment before the city decided to fully investigate his unscrupulous business practices. Doesn't make him any less of a jerk.
