Road rationale

AMEN, Sister! I agree with you! I HATE those round-abouts and I can't believe, either, that the city is paying out so much money for those darn things and letting other streets "go to pot!" I'm surprised city busses, fire trucks, etc., don't complain more about them. 90% of the people I talk to hate them. I'm afraid it's going to take a bad accident for the city to wake up and start removing them.

There! I got that off my chest.

KDOT trying to improve safety on two-lane highways

I think the center rumble strips are a life-saving idea. Too bad someone didn't think about that years ago. Good job, KDOT!

What is your reaction to David Wittig getting to keep his mansion, art and furnishings despite being convicted?

This infuriates me! Where's the justice in that! He STOLE all that money, but yet he gets to keep all the stuff that he used stolen money to buy? Crooked jerk.

Judge rules in favor of city smoking ban

Thank you Judge Murphy!!! I am very allergic to smoke and whenever I go (used to go) into an eating establishment, I would always ask to be seated farthest away from smoking sections, and I still have trouble breathing! And usually you have to walk through the smoking section to get to the non-smoking section.... now does that make sense? I thoroughly enjoy eating out now that Lawrence is a non-smoking city. I thank you, my children and grandchildren thank you!!!!

Holiday tradition will continue to glow brightly

What a heart-warming story! And I think it's great to keep the memory of Maxine going on! What a precious family she has. Bravo to you and may you have a blessed holiday season!

Preparing for the worst

Sounds like an excellent idea to me. How about posting a supply list online for those of us who would be unable to attend the "fair".

Eight lives to live

What a wonderful story! I thoroughly enjoyed reading the whole article. Brought back memories of my own high school days. My heart went out to Nancy Pat and her health issues, then I cried when I read the postscript at the end of the article to see that she had passed away. I'm so glad you 'girls' had the time to spend with her and I know you'll never regret it. My condolences, too, to her family and friends.
Here's my own P.S.: we need more articles like this to get away from the hum-drum of bad news that we always read about. Refreshing!

Fatal accident won't result in charges

I sure hope they give this guy a ticket! This poor woman lost her life! Her husband lost his mate! I think her life was more than just a traffic ticket!
