LMH asked to donate $75,000 to new Chamber of Commerce economic development campaign
Giving money to the Chamber to recruit more minimum wage jobs and fund their little get togethers is just as stupid as the City donating money to the city club house known as the League of Municipalities.

Former Kansas officials may provide path for current leaders to Medicaid expansion
A good many of Kansans are in a world of hurt for medical care as long as Brownback and company can keep screwing it up. They are bound and determined to undermine the ACA where ever they can and the Kancare/Medicaid program is a joke. I went on to the KDHE site and played with numbers for pre-screening. I didn't spend a lot of time with it nor did I play with all categories of the type of applicant but I never found one income combination that was successful in the pre-screening. Obviously I didn't apply and there may be some exceptions that go beyond the pre-screening process or additional success may be available with the use of a social worker or advocate. It looks like the pre-screening is designed to reduce applicants to zero by discouraging any further attempts. I would guess that only one or two types of applicants will be covered which makes me wonder if there are only two why do they offer a selection of more than those two. Looks like just smoke and mirrors giving many false hope.

Lawrence approves citywide curbside recycling program to begin in October 2014
You might as well save on your water bill from wasting the water to rinse out the glass containers. Most of it will eventually end up in the landfill anyway. Sand and the heat to make glass is still cheaper than cost of buying and remaking recycled glass into something useful.
Recycling has always been tied to the economics of it. Being more green and sustainable is a noble cause but more often than not the purpose ends up not being so green or sustainable.

Proposed recycling service leaves future of private curbside recycling companies uncertain
Is anyone willing to take bets on how much of this trash under the new program will actually end up in the landfill instead of recycled.

Yup. It isn't a lot of money and I don't know if all schools are set up with Deffenbaugh but they get some money from the recycling and it goes to the Student Council. I don't know if some of the money is used elsewhere but that is the way it is with the schools I know about.

Simons' Saturday Column: KU needs new tactics in its pursuit of state funding
This editorial written by Mr Republican himself. Typical baby boomer/tea bag mentality. It is always someone besides them who is at fault or has a short coming. Brownback and company don't listen to anyone except for when it benefits them. What are they suppose to do? Go pay homage to the Koch Brothers hoping they will give the universities a blessing and divine guidance.

I think the City should have had a real Lawyer look over their plan first. Bet there will be some legal action coming. There are a few companies that wont set still for this.
